Do Athletes endorsements affect your purchasing?

There must be some classification of human that these ads work on… I’m not sure what sane person doesn’t use commercials as an opportunity to do anything other than watch said commercial. Even if it’s 30 seconds I’m fumbling around for my phone, anything other than watching ads (opens browser full of targeted ads).

The testosterone booster commercials with Doug Flutie and Frank Thomas are downright creepy.

Especially when they say, "It also helps you in the bedroom, so she'll love it, too," while they both oogle the guy's wife like some fantasy camp porn is about to go down. eeeewwwwwwwww, that's one product I would never buy based on the endorsement.

I could care less about whether a product is or isn't endorsed by a sports celebrity, or any other kind of celebrity.  I've never been close to what one would describe as well to do.  I've had a comfortable lifestyle mostly because my wife and I have always tried to be smart about purchases.  That doesn't leave a lot of room for impulse buying.  Purchasing something because of a celebrity endorsement is impulse buying.

Everyone who owns a Bills Jersey should think carefully when they answer this question.

Owning a Bills Jersey is different from buying something being hacked on TV or via some video ad.

If a player was selling a memoirs book that would be different.

Only in a negative way..   If Tom Brady is endorsing a product, I will think twice about buying it.  And I stopped using Draft Kings years ago when I became aware that Jerry Jones & Robert Kraft were significant investors.

There’s a local sandwich shop in Florida called Miami Subs. 20  years ago living in Fort Lauderdale I used to go there about once a week.  They ran an anti-bills campaign, don’t remember exactly what the promotion was, but they had signs up that were kind of the inverse of Squish the Fish, against the Bills.  I walked out of the store and never went back.
