Dr.Mantis_Toboggan Posted August 23 Posted August 23 There must be some classification of human that these ads work on… I’m not sure what sane person doesn’t use commercials as an opportunity to do anything other than watch said commercial. Even if it’s 30 seconds I’m fumbling around for my phone, anything other than watching ads (opens browser full of targeted ads). Quote

ChevyVanMiller Posted August 23 Posted August 23 (edited) The testosterone booster commercials with Doug Flutie and Frank Thomas are downright creepy. Especially when they say, "It also helps you in the bedroom, so she'll love it, too," while they both oogle the guy's wife like some fantasy camp porn is about to go down. eeeewwwwwwwww, that's one product I would never buy based on the endorsement. BigAl2526 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I could care less about whether a product is or isn't endorsed by a sports celebrity, or any other kind of celebrity. I've never been close to what one would describe as well to do. I've had a comfortable lifestyle mostly because my wife and I have always tried to be smart about purchases. That doesn't leave a lot of room for impulse buying. Purchasing something because of a celebrity endorsement is impulse buying. Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted August 24 Posted August 24 It would never encourage me to buy something but absolutely discourage me (I’m looking at you Uggs) Quote
Reks Ryan Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Only in a negative way.. If Tom Brady is endorsing a product, I will think twice about buying it. And I stopped using Draft Kings years ago when I became aware that Jerry Jones & Robert Kraft were significant investors. There’s a local sandwich shop in Florida called Miami Subs. 20 years ago living in Fort Lauderdale I used to go there about once a week. They ran an anti-bills campaign, don’t remember exactly what the promotion was, but they had signs up that were kind of the inverse of Squish the Fish, against the Bills. I walked out of the store and never went back. Quote
stuvian Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I still have a membership to the phone sex service Browns and Raiders DT Bob Golic used to promote Quote
benderbender Posted August 26 Posted August 26 The only posters I believe are truly immune to ads are the ones from the Sunday Ticket, Amazon, Netflix, NFL+, Paramount+, Amazon, and Peacock threads. Quote
papazoid Posted August 26 Posted August 26 separating the spokesperson from brand recognition.... i'm going to say it makes absolutely no difference to me, if its a familiar celebrity endorser or a person you've never seen before. Quote
