My wife knew Marlo thru her association with St Jude. Her dad helped Danny Thomas round up money from Lebanese and Syrian families in the rural south to get it out of the ground. ALSAC does the fundraising, and they are up there with Coke when it comes to branding.

Seemed to me that he was eliciting the stories and topics from his guests, not trying to be part of the story, as so often did Morton Downey, Jerry Springer, etc.  If that's boring, I'm all for it.
