We have a backup QB problem

The roster sucks?

Nope.

Yes outside of Josh is pretty much scrubs and a couple above average guys overall. No Josh and this team might be 5-12 or worse. This isn’t the 49ers where anyone can play QB because everyone is wide open in that scheme and their roster is stacked. This is a house of cards sitting on Josh that would crumble without him.

Of course the Bills would crumble without Allen. That doesn’t mean their roster sucks. Far from it.

A backup QB can fill in for most teams and maybe be OK for a few weeks. If Josh is gone, we are toast. What other QB can fill in on this offense and get this subpar group of weapons to work? But also scramble for his life when this offensive line inevitably breaks down? It’s all Josh and not much else.

Seriously.  The hysterics are outta control.  We just outplayed Pittsburgh with them playing Wilson and Fields at QB vs Bills playing Trubisky and Dinucci.

The mistruths herein:

1.  A backup QB can fill in for most teams.  Laughable.  There aren’t 32 qualified starters in this league let alone backups.

2.  Subpar group of weapons.  Shakir, Kincaid, Cook and Samuel if he plays is not subpar.

3.  Offensive line inevitably breaks down.  As if it is inevitable.

Brady has his work cut out for him.  But come on.  I get that the negativity is a defense mechanism but please.

I mean something has to give there. I highly doubt either Winston or Huntley want to be a # 3 even if they keep 3 on the roster. One of those two are going either via release or trade

Nah. That's nonsense.

Every chance that with a Trubisky or other upper level backup we go .500 or pretty close. Hell, teams Trubisky started games for have gone 31-26.

"Scrub" is just not a word that should be used for the starters. Allen of course, but also Kincaid, Cook, Dawkins, Torrence (not so far this preseason but I think that's how it turns out) are all above average. One to three others who might also turn out that way assuming health and progression, though we don't know right now.

I get it, it's more fun to get all ridiculously angry and yell and scream, but it only blurs the grip on reality. Yeah, if Josh goes down for more than a few games we're not winning a Super Bowl. But same with nearly all of the top QBs. Probably all of them to be honest, unless it happens late in the season and you somehow get a backup who plays the best streak of his life the way that Foles did and Ds don't have time to figure out how to defense him in that offense. It's wildly unlikely.

Now, if Trubisky has regressed, should they bring someone else in? Yeah, sure. I'm not convinced that's the situation, but it's possible. The Bills know better than we do, but nobody is perfect at these decisions.
