Silver lining is the team was diligent about adding LB depth this off season incase they needed extra time for MM to ramp up. Marrow and Deion Jones are down grades but not to the AJ Klien level the team was playing last year. Dorian Williams and Ede Ulofoshio are athletic to make up for mental mistakes. The staff has a 3 weeks to prepare any of the options for their role knowing Milano will not be available. I am very interested in particular if Dorian would be ready for a starting role after a year to refine his skills and understanding his role? Also curious if they staff would move Benard to Miliano's WLB role and try Dorian or Spector at MLB? The injury wasn't a set back on last years leg issue and he should be able to continue to run and be in good condition if he is cleared from the bicep issue and can play. Milano getting the surgery now with Shefter already hinting about a return in Dec in time for the playoff could really be a boost. Having a fresh MM for the Kelce and Andrews in January is a big plus. Unfortunately Spector, Marrow and Ulofhoshio are all hurt at the moment also. gomper
At least it's not 17. Does it suck? Absolutely it does. The fact is they played the majority of the season last year without him. The adjustment won't be foreign. Hopefully he'll be back in December. Season isn't over everyone.

By the end of Greg Roussea's 3rd season, he has 17 sacks, 30 TFL and 42 QB hits. Yep, they are very same. Because 17 sacks in 3 years is a ton to lol
Logic
When we drafted Dorian Williams in the 3rd last year, everyone cried that it was a wasted pick, as if depth in the NFL is not a necessity. Fast forward a calendar year, and Matt Milano has now suffered a serious injury in back-to-back seasons and is set to be out until the playoffs. This goes to show that drafting depth is NOT the crazy, dumb, bad idea and waste of a pick that many cried about. Now we just need to hope that Williams can step up at WILL the same way that Bernard did at MIKE last year. If he can, Bernard/Williams could very likely be the LB duo that leads this defense for the next five years.

hondo in seattle
Maybe my memory is faulty but why does it seem our star defensive players (Tre, Milano, Von) are the ones who keep getting major injuries? I don't want anyone to be hurt, but why don't our scrubs end up on IR instead? As much as we worship at the altar, the Gridiron Gods seem to have it in for us.

No_Matter_What
Well this sucks. Anyway, I don't get this Dorian is not ready talk. If he's not ready by now he'll never be. Nobody here had any idea how good and ready Bernard was until he started playing. Get Williams on the field and let him play. If it doesn't work out after 6-7 games, start Spector/Jones/Ulofoshio or trade for a LB before deadline.

His replacement is already on the team, as well as depth. It may be unlikely they get Milano all pro level performance at that position, but I think it would have been unlikely they got that from Milano anyway. Tough break, but they could be OK. We will have to see.

The usual suspects cried to the heavens over the "wasted" pick on an undersized depth linebacker in the 3rd when we already had Milano
HappyDays
Spector is always dealing with something too. He's looked pretty good when he gets on the field but can't rely on him.

Time to move on after this season Yep in our scheme no room for it. Might hurt a bit less if we ran a real 4-3, but when there's only 2 dudes, losing 1 hurts a lot more. Tougher to scheme this defense with him on the roster than without, is a tipping point we passed. Love the dude bigly, but you can't put in a scheme for his talents, and then totally change it for how often he's out.... and that's before considering his large salary. Babich seems to excel with LBs, let him find or groom a younging to replace Milano, put that cap room to use elsewhere!

We called it a wasted pick because he was undersized MLB and on draft night they said he would play MLB not OLB.
