BringMetheHeadofLeonLett Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 History. The US has been teetering off-kilter since 911. Weird sh1t's been afoot. Historically, both sides, Democrat and Republican, have leached off hopes, dreams, and good faith. Going back before 911, I despise Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich just about equally- they were both self-serving pariahs, societal leaches, problematic human beings who rose to prominence. I tend toward socially Libertarian concepts, and fiscally lean toward social well-being programs. What some of you idiots will call a Socialist... negatively. Yeah, I don't want my parents, or yours, getting all hope and lifelong savings destroyed by scam-artists or medical bills, so yes, I am in favor of a strong Social Security system- radical, I know. In short- get the goddam government out of my personal life- even though I'm a straight white male who mastvrbates certainly less than average, and I'll agree to help provide a safety net for myself and my fellow Americans. I'm not going to get into an argument about which are the deserving Americans- I've got some bad-asses who kicked the ever-loving ***** out of the Third Reich in my family, and I also come from a family of immigrants. I don't mind paying **** ing taxes to keep your streets safer, provide shelter to those who need it, and just to know that I am part of something greater than me. Never forget that we are Americans. We've got a beautiful country- take a road trip to anywhere, just fvcking do it. Well, anyway- somewhere behind all that rant is William F. Buckley Jr. I generally wouldn't agree with him on the overarching approach, but kept in check, much like keeping excessive liberalism in check, he's someone worth looking into if you're a conservative, but maybe don't quite know what that means. 2
SectionC3 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 This is an interesting post. I have no idea what it means to be a conservative in the Trump era. I don't think modern-day "conservatives" have a clue, either. One would think that January 6 would have caused traditional "conservatives" to turn away from Trump. They're quick to lob the "socialist" euphemism, while at the same time supporting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and book banning. It's the height of hypocrisy. 1
