They clearly don't see him as a fit on this team as he's been a healthy scratch for over a 1/3 of the season (odd because they need right-handed D). The return was so low because he will be a UFA after this season, so it's essentially "what would you trade for Joker for 20+ games?"

Thanks, I didn't realize he'd been scratched that often.

Seems odd to me too, but I am completely out of the loop.

Any thoughts on the reason they just gave away Jokiharju?

He fell out of favor a while ago. They tried to trade him this past offseason but couldn’t find any takers.

I could also see him doing well in Boston.

I will not miss Joker firing pucks up the boards and off the glass.  He was not much of a puck mover but he at least played some semblance of defense unlike some of our other guys.  This team stinks.

can they give the Sabres 90 games to see if that helps make the playoffs?

Yeah, here are some quotes

sd0fq0g.jpeg

It’s a sad state of affairs in Buffalo right now. This season is the franchise’s 14th consecutive out of the playoffs, the NHL’s longest drought in history and one that doesn’t appear to be ending any time soon.

The Sabres were voted dead last in every category in our survey by a large margin and 61 percent of fans said their confidence in ownership was lower than a year ago. Buffalo fans filled our survey en masse, with more entries than every franchise except Minnesota, and the hundreds of responses were filled with vitriol. Many were pleas for the owner to sell the team.

Things are about as bad as they can get in Buffalo.

Fan perspective: “He seems averse to hiring GMs and coaches with actual NHL experience and makes abrupt hiring and firing decisions. The franchise still appears to have a haphazard plan for putting together a winning roster. Part of this is that there is no team president or other executive with NHL experience to guide these decisions.”

“His entire ownership tenure has been a disaster. He used to have competition as the worst owner in the league in Eugene Melnyk and Alex Meruelo, now he is the last one of those remaining.”

“Hockey Heaven he said. Instead, Terry Pegula’s ownership has put Buffalo in Hockey Hell.”

Nice win Sabres.  I love beating the Bruins!

Me too, always.  But I am absolutely petrified they are going to use these late season wins to justify running it back next season

I work down the street from Foxboro.  So beating every Boston team is extra sweet

Sign Beane and McDermott for life.  I've never seen this before.  "Hey, we just got a penalty called.  Let's score on our own net."

I’ve seen that happen to other teams.  Not often but it happens.

I've seen it but never when the goalie was already pulled for that extra attacker.  It reminded me of the 2016 finale at the Jets where we didn't field the kickoff and the Jets recovered it in our end zone late in the 4th quarter.  I thought at the time that yup....this is rock bottom.  I believe Rex had just got fired.

A long time ago I saw this at least twice.  I think that the Sabres were on the good end one of those times.  Bruins maybe?  I remember laughing.  I think the Capitals did it the other time.
