stuvian Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) I just came from the Senators Sabres game. What a debacle for Ottawa! Your Sabres team is made up of giants. They're huge. Your goalie deservedly got first star. I cannot remember a period of my life when Lindy Ruff did not coach the Sabres, including pre-internet. That's No Moon Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Up 2-0, losing 5-2 in front of all the expats. Well done boys. Let everyone know the spirit of the thing. Quote
BillsPride12 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 That's the beauty of the NFL playoffs...I don't have to pay attention to the Sabres for a few weekends Quote

Dr. Who Posted January 12 Posted January 12 They're a complete embarrassment. Pegula/Adams have no idea how to competently build a team. Not enough veterans, and they've made so many bad decisions that any veteran with a NTC has the Sabres on it. Not even worth minimal attention, unless one is a masochist. Quote

Completely dominant. Then they just stopped playing that way, and pretty much packed it in after Seattle went up 3-2. This description from a Seattle kraken fan blog site sums it up perfectly… https://www.davyjoneslockerroom.com/kraken-sabres-recap-seattle-fights-back-to-win-6-2/ (Davey jone’s locker is the kraken equivalent to the “die by the blade” Sabres site) Quote An excellent effort through the final 40 minutes of the game given where the opening frame had them. It was helped along a bit by the Sabres themselves, who also played a very typical game for them; great first period where they clogged lanes and made the Kraken forecheck effectively non-existent, and then just stopped doing any of that after the 2nd period. They completely backed off once Burakovsky scored his goal and the ice seemingly opened up after Jacob Bryson accidentally knocked the puck into his own net. Even with Seattle’s many struggles, I really cannot fathom how it must be to be a Sabres fan right now; Die By The Blade must be an ongoing group therapy session. I swear, this is the most mentally weak/fragile Sabres team that has ever been assembled. I don’t even feel like I’m exaggerating either. I don’t just mean this season. This season is probably the worst yet but it’s been going on with this “core” for years now. One tiny thing goes wrong and 2/3rds of the team immediately starts hanging their heads, saying “woe is me! Here we go again…”, and pack it in for the night. Oh, and then they always give their mea culpa’s to the press. Cant forget about that part. “This is unacceptable. We have to stop doing this. It’s embarrassing” blah blah blah. 1 2 Quote
May Day 10 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Its terrible. Time is not going to simply fix this, despite what Terry Pegula thinks and wants. 2 Quote
billsfanmiamioh Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I hate not watching but I just couldn’t do it anymore. I was rambling off Sabres rosters when I was in diapers but it’s just not worth investing ANY amount of time or money on the organization at this point. 1 1 Quote
QCity Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Sabres had 0 shots in the 3rd period yet they scored a goal. Never seen that before. Quote

Doc Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM So for anyone who watched the game, was the reason why they had zero shots is because they were just playing to protect the lead and playing offense and expose themselves? I don't think I've ever seen a team not take a single shot in a period before. Quote

Sabres we're determined not to let them back in so it was Alamo-mode in the third. It worked. 11 minutes ago, Doc said: So for anyone who watched the game, was the reason why they had zero shots is because they were just playing to protect the lead and playing offense and expose themselves? I don't think I've ever seen a team not take a single shot in a period before. They kept everyone back to defend in the third. Also, the Sabres became the first NHL team to score a goal without a single shot on goal in a period. A penalty shot was awarded on an empty net, which is an automatic goal. https://www.nhl.com/news/carolina-hurricanes-buffalo-sabres-game-recap-january-15#:~:text=The Sabres are the first,in a period were tracked. … Quote
