Officials said the manhunt on the ground in Orange County was over as investigators follow leads to find Ramone Alston. "That man had a plan, and there was nothing they could do to know it," Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said Wednesday afternoon. He said he was certain Alston was not within 5 miles of the hospital where he escaped. As of Wednesday afternoon, officials said they have searched more than 1,300 acres.
