Pine Barrens Mafia Posted August 14 Posted August 14 So, three different OCs, the same ***** results within three yards of the goal line. What's the common denominator, everyone? You make the call. 1 1 1 1 Quote
Royale with Cheese Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) Who gives a ****. We score everywhere else on the field at a high rate. We have scored the most on average since 2020. We would be #1 in overall points but we have one less game. https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-points-scored-since-2020-nfl-team Does a TD at the 1 yard line count more than a TD at the 5 or 11 yard line? We can't be great in every single facet or stat on offense. Cherry picking one stat as if it matters. The negatives on here will eat this up. Edited August 14 by Royale with Cheese 5 2 2 2 20 Quote

GolfandBills Posted August 14 Posted August 14 They have been poor inside the 10 yard line for quite some time. Makes sense 1 2 1 1 Quote
msw2112 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) I assume that's one of the reasons they drafted a big WR who can win contested catches (Coleman) versus a small speedy guy (Worthy). And last year, their top pick was big pass catcher in Kincaid. These guys should be able to "win" on fades and jump balls in the end zone. I have not followed camp that closely, but I do recall seeing a lot of those types of plays in the recaps. Edited August 14 by msw2112 5 2 1 Quote

I would also guess to have WR who can take on the more aggressive/physical style corners play in the playoffs. I can't think of other reasons why Diggs consistently was not productive in the playoffs. 1 1 Quote

The Chiefs' DBs are known to take a lot of liberties and get away with it, so maybe the bigger, stronger pass catchers (I use that term, given that Kincaid is technically a TE) can overcome that physicality and still make the plays. 2 1 Quote
folz Posted August 14 Posted August 14 If this is actually a thing, it's probably due to our previous "smurf" receivers and small (Singletary) or ineffective (Moss) RBs. Damien Harris was supposed to help there last year, but got injured. We've had a lot of small skill players. That is why a lot of our goal line TDs were Josh running it in or Knox catching a TD (there is a reason Knox had so many TDs over a couple of years). Davis had some size, but was never a decent red zone threat. Our receiver room is now much bigger and they drafted Davis in the backfield. Hopefully the extra size and strength is what this team needed (and not just at the goal line). 2 Quote
MPL Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Any time the Bills have a 3rd and 1, I assume they are not going to get it. Doesn't matter where on the field they are. 3 1 1 Quote

Seems to me if you have an 800 lb gorilla at QB, you should just run him from the 2 1 1 Quote
Bray Wyatt Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I also feel this is a reason we let Morse go, didnt get much push up front in the run game 2 2 Quote

BuffaloRebound Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Why on earth would we throw the ball on the goal line when we have a 250lb QB that can’t be stopped on 3rd and 4th and short? Also Diggs, Davis, and Knox are not good contested catch guys 3 1 3 Quote
Blackbeard Posted August 14 Posted August 14 And how many TD does Allen have when he ran it in himself? 6 points is 6 points whether QB runs it in or passes. When you have a stud unicorn QB/LB at center, sometimes it may make more sense to run it in as opposed to pass it and risk the int. 1 1 2 Quote

What are your thoughts on Warren Sharp saying "Allen hasn't thrown it well inside the 3"? Quote

It wouldn't include any Allen runs or even scrambles. No surprise at all that we rank low in that hyper specific scenario with I would assume a very low sample size. We don't have Andy Reid drawing up easy button shovel passes and we didn't have any contested catch specialists last year. FWIW we ranked 4th in red zone TD% last year at 63.89% (KC ranked 19th at 51.25%). Boiling that down to just within 3 yards of the goalline and just on pass plays is going to create some funky results. 15 2 1 6 Quote
ALLinALLEN Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Not scoring at the goal line has not been the reason we've lost in the playoffs since Allen's tenure...Its a myriad of other things but almost exclusively not that. 1 Quote
