Matt Milano injured at practice

Yes actually it does. The long head of biceps is attached to the labrum, so yeah he COULD be trying to figure out if its shoulder, elbow or whatever. No one said Biceps rupture.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or serious.

But any sports medicine physician, even with minimal training, will do a hook test (likely follow with imaging if concerned).

By no means is an NFL training staff uneducated enough to not know if it's showing signs of a torn bicep.  Which is what ThighDoc is speculating.

Milano wouldn't have been trying push-ups or any other physical activity involving that arm, if initial prognosis was serious.

This is a joke by you hopefully...again ThighDoc randomly puts out worse case diagnoses, with very limited info, and ppl run with it without even thinking themselves.

Does anyone know how this injury occurred?

Most likely he was trying to arm tackle the powerful James Cook.

James Cook was blasting through the hole and Milano stuck his arm out trying to arm tackle him.

Unfortunately Milanos arm hyper extended and now Milano may be out for a while.

I'm very sorry

I was serious. As I said, the tear would be proximal not distal which is what the hook test used to try and detect.

Look up SLAP 2b labrum tear and the possibility of a proximal biceps tear ( not rupture ).

Sorry not to get too into the weeds, my main point is that trained sports medicine physicians have a variety of "tests" that can be done to rule out OR suspect a more serious injury.

But none of those tests would have Matt Milano doing push-ups OR moving/picking up a Jugs machine, as part of the initial assessment.

with my consideral amount of medical training i always ask a paitent to perform a a various set of moments.

At the conclusion of each movement i then ask my paitent if it hurts, if it does i then tell them not to do that!

on a more serious note...a lot of times some of the more painful things that happen result in nothing more than a sore

contusion for a few days.

Yep.

Glass is harsh, but I don't think is body can take being the size it is, and put up with the offseason work and pounding it takes for him to play at the level he does.  It just happens.

Milano is not "made of glass," given that "injury prone/glass" guys wash out of the league well before Year Seven or Age Thirty lol. Matt Milano has already enjoyed double the average NFL career.

Milano HAS however, since his transition from obscure college Safety/Nickel/OLB to all-pro NFL WLB, absolutely maxxed-out his frame's capacity for muscle mass. He's insanely swole nowadays to an extent that doesn't always result in durability for comparable freaks. And he plays a collision position with an aggressive mindset...all ingredients of an injury-riddled career. Nick Bosa, who is similarly (and suspect-ly JACKED) has missed 31 games in 8 years (to Milano's 25 in 6 years). It's a rough job.

Agreed on all points as I’ve been working in various specialties in medicine for the last 26 years.  If he had a bicep tear he wouldn’t be doing push ups.  He’d be in agony and it’s an easy diagnosis.  I’ve seen 3 complete tears in my life, because inexperienced conventional Powerlifters (Squat, Bench, Deadlift) will when completing a deadlift, not follow the golden rule that you’re arms are just clamps, and not to shrug the bar.  You’re bicep can’t handle once you get above 600lbs to shrug anything.

Its agony on the person and experienced Powerlifters on a National level are as tough as football players as when I did it for 17 years.  We always live in pain as the body is just not meant to be doing that extreme level of weights. As evidenced by my joints in my 50’s.  I don’t regret it, but I knew the risks and my form was perfect.

My point is not my resume at all, but a bicep tear is easy to diagnose.  That’s my point.
