Beck Water Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Question: Last year the OL and DL were wearing those Guardian Caps and there were some comments that they helped. This year, I notice the DBs, RB, TE and WR are wearing them - but NOT the OL and DL Anyone know what's up with that? Example: Quote
Simon Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Maybe they only bother with them up front on days that they're wearing full pads? Quote

Example: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/nfl-guardian-caps-everything-you-need-to-know-about-football-s-new-protective-helmet/ar-AA1otexf Are Guardian Caps Mandatory? Yes and no. The NFL introduced Guardian Caps during 2022 training camps. In 2023, the league required positions that receive the most head contact — running backs, linemen, and linebackers — to wear the extra padding in camp. In 2024, every position, excluding quarterbacks and specialists, was mandated to use a Guardian Cap in training camp. NFL players who wore one of six new helmet models approved by the league and the NFLPA were exempt from using Guardian Caps. 1 Quote

If the OL and DL are wearing approved helmet models, they don't wear them. Quote
Saxum Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I am sure the new extra padding is in marketing partnership with NFL which seems to be most important thing. 2 Quote

Figster Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Thought I would bump this thread because had Tua been wearing a Guardian cap throughout his pro Career, Tua's career wouldn't be over now. Tua was Born to play the game of football... 2 2 Quote

Perhaps after what happened tonight more players will begin to wear them this weekend. 1 1 Quote

I would be all over making this protection mandatory. The damage being done is cumulative. Edited September 13 by Figster Quote

Might have given him a lesser history though. 2 Quote
