Either because it’s all too expensive or you just don’t feel like checking out the goods - you only buy absolute essentials. With some exceptions of course. It’s an absolute disgrace what’s happened.

Costco seems to be kinda foolproof, if things are good the less wealthy shop there and when times are bad the rich shop there for the deals but no matter the season their parking lot is full 1

Costco is where all Americans (sadly except for the poorest, who can't afford membership or buying in bulk) meet. And weirdly get along just fine regardless of political persuasion, race, religion, country of origin, etc.
