Not really, 70’s are considered average and 80’s are considered great.

They changed how they do their ratings about 8+ years ago.

Oliver should be 84 85

DQ should be about 82

It's been awhile since I played Madden so I didn't know this.

I assumed it was 90's were you A level, 80's B level, 70's C level....

Still, I think DaQuan and Ed are better than average.

Only elites are in the 90's. Most good to great starters will be in the 80's. Average starters will be high 70's. Functional starters and good backups will be in the mid 70's.

I've gotta be honest...

Last year, for the first time in 20 years, I didn't buy Madden.

It sucked to finally have a Buffalo Bill on the cover and then to not want to buy the game, but I just couldn't take it any more. The quality of the game had been dipping for too many consecutive years, and I couldn't just continue to hand my money to EA for a wildly subpar product.

After a year off of video game football, I bought College Football 25 this year. Granted, it's still made by EA and it still has its similarities to Madden, but so far, I have found it to be vastly superior. Not only do I find the gameplay, presentation, and online experience more enjoyable, but the wide variety of playbooks and styles of offense available in college football make for a much more diverse and re-playable experience.

I don't begrudge anyone that still wants to play Madden, but if -- like me -- you've grown tired of it, I suggest giving College Football 25 a try. I'm not even a particularly big college football fan, I just wanted a good, fun, playable football video game. I have found it to be just that so far. Give it a shot.

Lets see, if I remeember correctly about 25-30 years ago when I was still in school we played Front page sports football on the computer....

-Players had 12-15 or so rating each, and they all seemed to actually mean something in terms of play on the field.

-you could design custom playbooks

-WITH custom plays. Every single player on the field you could give complicated logic, literally draw their routes/paths/zones pixel by pixel ANY formation that was legal in the NFL you could do.

-Custom team names if you want, custom uniforms if you want.

-make your own schedules (with a mod)

-With a few small tweaks to ratings, get a realistic result (the best QB would PLAY like the best QB, the best CB would actually PLAY like the best CB)

-so much customization. Play league games out of order if needed.  Adjust not only playbooks, but coaching profiles to get cpu controlled teams to run/pass more or less, blitz more or less, even lean toward certain plays in certain situations.

Sure, the graphics were bad compared to now...but all those things...I remember thinking to myself...just how good will NFL games be in 10 or 20 years from now, they should be perfect!

Almost 30 years later, I've given up on Madden. Sure it looks a LOT better, but almost 30 years later I'm still waiting for an NFL game that matches what that did years ago.

Josh Allen's fumble rating needs to be fixed dude fumbles every other time he's hit, it's infuriating.

I don’t remember what year it started but it feels like to cut down on qbs scrambling they made fumbles crazy frequent doesn’t even really matter who the qb is.

A qb with a high fumble rating will still cough it up very often if you’re not sliding/covering the ball

Mahomes at 99 is no surprise. Lamar at 98 is a joke. Josh at 92 is low but reasonable.

Madden gonna Madden, I guess.

I find it a bit strange why everyone, players and media, seem to be trying to prop up Lamar Jackson constantly. He is no doubt a good QB, but he is nowhere near a 98 madden rating, or the best QB in the NFL Top 100. Very strange, especially seeing that everyone always seems to be ready to criticize and underate Josh Allen.

I still play Madden 2005 on the original Xbox to this day for the same reasons.  I'm on year 6 of my third 30-year franchise.  I believe 2005 has a lot more depth and customization than the recent releases.

Madden is awful.

Madden 06 was a better game. Really though anything from 2004 and beyond on PS2 was prime. 08 I didn't play as much, it might be the definitive version.

I guess I'll be the dissenter and say that Madden is not an awful game. I think it is fun. I still get into it. Does it have its issues? Of course. Should EA get a free pass for their questionable decisions on features and what aspects of the game to focus on? No. But... its still a fun game. You have to use the sliders to make it playable, though, I'll admit.

But I don't buy it every year. I usually buy it every 2 or 3 years and just play that one until I feel like getting the newer version.

Awful is probably too strong of a word, I'm coming from the standpoint of franchise mode.
