That came after exit polls showed him losing by as much as 30 points. Reports of Maduro's armed thugs closing down polling sites and stealing ballot boxes were prevalent throughout the process, all but confirming that the election was indeed stolen. What happens next is clear. Maduro will strengthen his grip on power instead of stepping down peacefully. As the saying goes, you can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out. While this outcome was apparent to anyone with any common sense, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden had different ideas. Based on real conversations with people who work in this field: Yes. You do see some doctors, lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers, etc. walking across the border with backpacks. The first recent wave of Venezuelan immigrants had a lot of educated/professional people. The Venezuelan middle/professional classes collapsed, and they came whatever way they could. The second wave was more of laborers, etc. And unfortunately the most recent wave has included a lot of the lowest economic rung. They didn't have the money to get out, but with "modern" smuggling networks anything is doable now, you just owe a debt that you repay through money or work, including supporting the criminals who smuggled you. With LEGAL immigration you ensure you get the best of the best. Speed up that process. Great countries with high standards of living like Switzerland or Singapore only let you move there if you get a job and the company sponsors you or you are already skilled and super rich. Why would we expect any less for our own country? And Singapore has corporal punishment. I wrote a paper on how that improved their quality of life. Try googling DARVO. They were not senior citizens with flags there were militia with coordination and intent to storm and take over the capital to stop the counting and there was direct cover by the former president to prevent the national guard from acting in Defense of the capital for hours. True. The system itself needs reform. The system as it stands has no way of separating legitimate asylum applicants from illegitimate or fake/fraudulent ones, at least not until the applicant has waited years for a hearing. The US is like the 20th best country in the world as per recent polls based on standards of living. Why is it our job to take them in? We should have the strictest immigration we can to ensure we only get the best of the best.
