dma0034 Posted July 24 Posted July 24 So the NFL definitely wants the Superbowl the day before President's Day. It's something they've talked about for a while. So they will cut the preseason by 1 and start games the weekend before Labor Day and give teams a second bye during the second half of the season. It also gives them a chance to have a much bigger opening weekend. They have their normal Thursday game to start the year but they can load up MNF with two games (like they did in the past) with no real issues. 1 Quote

The game is much easier on the body today. They basically don’t practice. Ok. So, if the game is easier, then what's the problem with another game? Quote

Players want more share of the money. There is a great chance OTA’s and mini camps are cut also. Edited July 24 by Buffalo_Stampede Quote
gregmo Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I think this a Miami conspiracy to essentially ensure that nobody will have an undefeated season. 1 Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted July 25 Posted July 25 The season is way too short. There are ways around it to make it manageable. There’s no amount of games that is too high for me. I’ll take as much NFL as I can get. 1 1 Quote

No, but getting that #1 seed is a huge deal and not just because of homefield advantage. Football is a brutal sport and getting that week off so you don't have to play WC weekend is important so players can heal up as best they can from injuries and the wear and tear that players get from the season. Just in Atlanta Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I would prefer an 18 game schedule as a fan, as long as there are two bye weeks. The league should also make TNF games a mini bye on both ends. Quote

Look for that #1 seed bye to disappear as well. I bet they expand the playoffs by one team in each conference when they add the 18th game. Quote

I would think the NFL wields that kind of power by now. Quote

The problem is there are states which have NFL teams and teams which don't so senators and representatives have trouble supporting those changes unless teams promise free use of boxes for repaying key supporters. SydneyBillsFan Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I have always believed that 18 regular season games is the optimal number. This would require a second bye week of course, as well as a shortened pre-season. And an increase in the salary cap. It's not a matter of if, but when. 1 Quote

Agree. 17 games is dumb with the AFC/NFC rotating between 8 and 9 home games every other year. I think you got right. 18 games, 2 bye weeks, reduced preseason, increase rosters and salary cap. Quote
