NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG:

Potential Harris VP Pick Josh Shapiro Accused by Democrat of Covering Up Sexual Harassment in His Office.

Now I know which one the GOP hopes she doesn't pick.  Ironically, when the accuser posted the tweet she endorsed the guy that just dropped out of the running.

the only basis for choosing him was the idea that it would put NC in play. Which Cooper probably realizes is not the case, polling or otherwise. So drop out now rather than being passed on

But you don’t just do that.  Plenty of Trump VP nominees knew they weren’t really in the running .. they didn’t just drop out to save face.

You just let yourself not get picked, because to do what Cooper did is a signal.

And no matter how loud or soft that signal is, you don’t put that stuff out there unless there’s political motivation to do so.

EITHER THEY’RE AFRAID THEY’LL GO DOWN LOSING WITH HER OR THEY’RE AFRAID THEY’D HAVE TO WORK WITH HER FOR FOUR YEARS

Kamala's Running Mate Selection Process Takes a Humiliating Turn

Matt Margolis

0bdd440f-b193-4f1a-85cf-2ec98d8d5bf1-105

Kamala Harris's search for a running mate has hit yet another snag. Previously, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) took herself out of consideration, and two others have followed suit since dirt dug up on them made them a lot less likely to be picked. Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-Pa.) has been accused of covering up sexual harassment in his office, and then Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) has been exposed as the co-founder of a spy balloon company that was partially funded by China. This may not preclude Kamala from selecting either, but it likely hurts both of their chances.

Now, another top contender has taken his name out of consideration: Gov. Roy Cooper (D-N.C.).

According to the New York Times, Cooper "has informed [Harris's] team that he has withdrawn from the vice-presidential sweepstakes, according to two people briefed on the matter."

Tying yourself to this administration is career suicide. Either you lose or worse case you win and your name is linked to what's about to happen to our country over the next 4 years of lawlessness and illegal immigration. And in the meantime you have to stick up for the past 4 years while on the campaign trail when everyone knows it was a trainwreck run by the guys holding up a dead corpse like from Weekend at Bernie's

House Democrat: 'These Progressives Don't Want a Jew' for VP

After Veepstake talk heated up around popular Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro, progressives made their displeasure known about Shapiro's affinity for Israel and criticism of pro-Palestinian "demonstrators" on college campuses. The Hill reported on a letter from 50 progressive "leaders" urging Kamala Harris to recognize Shapiro's "shortcomings as a national leader" and instead focus on, er ... Andy Beshear and Tim Walz.

House Democrat Jared Moskowitz of Florida translated this as rank anti-Semitism.  And he wasn't shy about letting everyone know it, either:

I think there is a strong chance that she does go with Gov. Shapiro. She wouldn't get Pennsylvania without him and she doesn't really have to worry about the extremist left. She is one of them and where are they going to go anyway ?

Their TDS is irreversible.

Not a good indicator for the Kamala campaign.

Polls show tightening of the race, alongside glowing media coverage, but unless Roy Cooper has family/health concerns, this type of decision reads as the internals aren’t as great as the public narrative.

Or face saving on his part if he wasn’t going to be the pick anyway. Hard to know for sure.

Will be honest, the discussion among Democrats is will enough  independents and Republicans vote for a Jew. The Democrats don’t have a problem with Jews. Don’t have a problem with Jews on the ticket. it’s a real issue. This election is gonna be tight no matter what and it’s gonna be won on the margins. there’s already a woman of color leading the ticket. And unfortunately, or fortunately people don’t pay that much attention to elections until the last minute. unfortunately, a lot of Americans are very insular in their views and so it’s a real concern that people will vote against the Democratic ticket just because there’s a Jew or a woman of color or both on it.

another serious calculation for the Democrats the Democratic president is nearly powerless without control of the house Senate or both so pulling senators, pulling governors may not make the most sense.

I have no interest in her gender or her race, or the potential Jewish faith of a potential running mate.

I will not vote for her because she is the single worst candidate for president I have ever seen.

Nothing credible on her resume.

Anti energy. Anti business. Anti Israel.

Border is on her resume.

No credibility in international issues.

Absolutely clueless re the military.

Total sum is that she is a typical San Francisco Dem., and that is a losing background.

I mean, twice elected as Attorney General for the fifth biggest economy in the world and largest state in the country elected to the Senate of the same nominated and elected to vice president.

As Trump said the VP doesn’t really matter so border away he said he didn’t want to fix it either.
I appreciate that you’re able to make a decision, not influenced by race or religion. I would hope more of my fellow Americans would be able to do the same.

We all get to have an opinion on policy.

could she use some training? Could she be better at ad lib, sure, I mean she didn’t have 10 years of mark Burnett coaching her.

this guys seems pretty sharp.

I hate quoting these things that have imbedded videos, because I can't stand them in the quote.

If I could eliminate them, I would.

But....

Have you ever lived in the San Francisco Bay area?

Do you know how meaningless it is to get elected as a Democrat there?

There is no point in running against them.

You know how Pelosi got so powerful?

I'll tell you. It isn't 'cause she is talented or smart.

It's because she had no Republican competition, and she was able to donate those massive Silicon Valley contributions to other Dems. Thus her popularity.

Noting merit based. She wasn't/isn't smart or talented.

I have voted on this once with the strongest vote you can possibly make.

My wife and I agreed that we didn't want to raise our kids there, although we had lived there for years and got married in the Navy Chapel on Yerba Buena, which is an anchor island for the Bay Bridge. Can't get any more Bay Area than that.

I loved the area and I never wanted to leave, but as things got crazier and crazier, it was a family decision.

A few weeks after we left, we had dinner in San Francisco and went to the Cliff House after.

The Cliff House overlooked the Pacific and it was a perfect evening. I am not a drinker, so I gave my wife the keys and ordered a scotch. Looking over the Pacific I asked her if she thought giving this up was  a mistake.

She said that if family/kids were in the calculus, there was no decision.

Best for us.

I cannot stand these San Francisco Democrats, nor they people like me.

Eh, this won't be remembered even by tomorrow.   Come on, it's a vp pick.  It's like getting overhyped for a number 5 rb for having a good preseason game.

Shapiro is obviously the best pick, but between the sexual harassment coverup allegations, the now reopened suicide/murder case and him being Jewish/Zionist past statements, he’s going to be a real hard sell to the youth base of the party.

Helps in PA, hurts in MI.

He’s who I’d choose if I was Harris, but he’s gone from a home run pick to a double with the vetting that’s coming out.

Have to imagine there’s a strong behind the scenes campaign going on to NOT pick Shapiro.

Kamala should, politically speaking.. but it’s not without risk.

Also may be the reason Pete’s name has skyrocketed today.   He would be an absolutely hilarious pick, but at least would be interesting over (insert generic white man)

I have lives in LA and visited SF (where a good friend lives) dozens of times. I have also lived in a half a dozen cities across the country the suburbs and rural.

its't not really meaningless since you still have to do the job AND run agains other dems at the very least IMHO.

Maybe there is a reason republicans can't win in CA, might have something to do with the ideas they are promoting. I mean "could be"?

Pelosi is also a skilled politician, you don't just get to do all of that if you aren't.

What qualifies as merit based for you? I mean she was not the only person to run and she has to run every two years, and all the SV money, well they expect results, so seems like merits to me, but eh. not like it's LA or MS or OK you know where only rep can get elected (with a little gerrymandering help).

Been there, a beautiful place to get married, congrats. We all have to do what we think is right. Cliff House is also very pretty. CA in general is unreal, and as a motorcyclist a total joy, so got ya there.

Note I also left, so I get it, I could pay Half a million for a shack that I wouldn't feel safe bring my mom to, and that was in the early 2000's. decided on other priorities than working myself to death for a montage for a shack.

Thanks for sharing. I think it helps everyone here realize we are all actual humans behind these keyboards.

Fair take. lots of choices all with plusses and minuses. Should be interesting.

I'll make it simple.

Kamal Harris hasn't ever done anything to suggest she is in the least way competent to serve as President.

A few months ago she was the least admired/approved official at the national level.

She is also dumb.
