Now that you got that out of your system, can you answer a couple questions?

1. what was it you saw out of Joe Biden over the last couple years that led you to declare you think “he’s mentally fit now” roughly 4 weeks ago?

2. What did you mean when you said Biden has aged out of the public part of the job?

That's the beauty of the world, Frank.  You can sit in your lay-z-boy, enjoy a cup of Earl Gray and listen to the Dr. Hook LP on the console as he beckons a lady friend to consider sharing the night together (ah yeah, all right) .  Someone else with a hankering for bunions and a high arch can chase their dreams with a reasonably priced subscription service in the comfort of their own home.

We're all God's children.

Joe Biden has demonstrated that he (or o.k., he and his minions) can do the job. There's a political part of the job - all the campaigning (and yes, debating) that he's clearly piss poor at now. That's the "public part" I was talking about.

His opponent, on the other hand, is very effective at the public/campaigning part, and very ineffective (look at the firings/resignations/Cabinet officials who've called him an idiot/moron) at the private part of the job.

Would be nice to have someone who's good at both as our President, but this is American democracy in action. You can't always get what you want.

So it’s your belief that after observing 82yo Joe Biden for a good while that he is still up to the non-public part of the job. To quote the young democrat social media influencer Ben Sissons - WOW!

Im a small business owner who participates in Chamber of Commerce events.

Watching the Teamsters President at the RNC isn’t exactly my wheelhouse.

However, there is a political realignment happening and the GOP is now becoming the party of the white working class, small business owners and socially conservative latinos.

It’s no longer the Romney/Ryan party.  It’s why many of the Bush era Republicans have switched over to the Democrat party.  They may be the party of umarried women and black people, but they’re also now the party of elitists and the ultra wealthy (Elon and some emerging tech guys aside).

81. 81 years old. 82 around election time. Every month matters when you're in your 80s.

This feels like hilarious satire, but I'll play along...

What exactly have they done well?  And please, don't say they got spending bills passed...that's simply not qualified as "doing something good'

These aren't serious people.   This election is a circus and will be laughed at in the future.   Or held in complete contempt.

True.

I have a friend who's a Poli Sci Prof. His line is "coalitions in American politics are never stable." And the last 8 years proves that.

Democratic coalition, 2020: highly educated people, blacks of all economic classes (men and women, but more pronounced with women), Hispanics of all classes (same, with of course regional differences)

Republican coalition 2020: poorly educated, men of all economic classes, people who identify as very religious.

If the Trump-era Republicans make more inroads with one of the Dem-backing groups, the Dems will tack in a different direction to get one of the Rep-backing groups.

Coalitions in American politics are never stable.

Yes. And that was a legislative priority, and they got it done even with a Republican-controlled House.

I am talking about "effective" as in "forwarding your party's policy agenda." Trump was effective in getting Paul Ryan's tax bill passed in the same way, then woefully ineffective on everything else. You can blame Democrats for that, but ultimately you either got it done or you didn't.

Blitzy, I see you've tacked hard from the "Amber Rose was an inspirational RNC Speaker" spin to the "Yeah, but The Democrats Have Their Own Embarrassments" spin.

Which proves my point, doesn't it?

Back at the thread:

Trump Rewrites His Convention Speech, and for a Very Good Reason

by Matt Margolis

Former President Donald Trump has completely overhauled his convention speech following Saturday's assassination attempt. In an exclusive interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump, who was millimeters away from being killed, will now call for a renewed effort at national unity during his speech on Thursday.

Trump expressed his desire to seize this historic moment to unite the country. “The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be a humdinger,” he told Salena Zito of the Washington Examiner. “Had this not happened, this would’ve been one of the most incredible speeches,” hitting at the policies of Joe Biden. “Honestly, it’s going to be a whole different speech now.”

He said he shifted his focus from energizing his voter base to demonstrating his belief that the attack at a Pennsylvania rally had fundamentally altered the election campaign. Indeed, Republicans and Democrats have recognized this change following Saturday's shocking incident. In fact, Democratic strategists who spoke with NBC News on Sunday said that the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump most certainly was the true end of Biden's hopes of getting reelected.

Are you calling her an embarrassment?  I didn’t.

She loves America and thus has a place in this party.  That’s the current most glaring difference between Ds and Rs in 2024.  The base of the Democrat party hates this country and the principles that built it.  They hate its traditions they hate they hate and they hate.  The “comedians” on late night - nothing but hatred for half the country.

So if L is going to say he wants his “country club prim and proper GOP back” I’m assuming he wants similar “standards” from his own party.  He doesn’t.  He doesn’t care.  No comment ever from L when we’ve shared sex tapes on the freaking House floor to trans activists naked on the WH lawn….

Amber Rose speaks at the RNC?  Why that’s just disgusting!

RNC Day 2: Here's what to expect from the convention after Trump announced VP pick

By Kaia Hubbard

Washington — Republicans from across the country are returning Tuesday to Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum for day two of the Republican National Convention, after a busy kickoff day that featured a formal nomination of former President Donald Trump, the highly anticipated announcement of his running mate — and the former president's first public appearance since an attack on his life over the weekend.

Each day of the convention features a theme that plays off of Trump's "Make America Great Again" tagline.

Tuesday's theme is "Make America Safe Once Again."

The theme is a nod to what the Trump campaign calls the Biden administration's "soft-on-crime" policies that it says have created "dystopian nightmares" out of American cities and communities, which Trump plans to correct.

The first official session of the day gets underway at 5 p.m. CT, or 6 p.m. ET. For a detailed schedule of events, see the RNC's master calendar on their website.

Speeches begin at 7:00 Tuesday night.

The 7th speaker tonight is the Gov of WV and Senatorial candidate, Jim Justice.  He'll

bring the infamous Babydog with him.  He says "You Know"  frequently and the over/under is 12.

Please dont judge the fine citizens of WV by this clowns presentation.

I wasn't aware of Babydog. I'll be looking forward to that.

Still, the return of old style cornball Republicans will be reassuring to my aging psyche. I don't think I can handle any more normalization of porn stars and face-slapper promoters.
