McDermott may have forgiven Dunne but Beane didn't have to help that guy out. I get the impression that Beane and McD aren't just coworkers, they're friends who talk a lot. Maybe daily. So I'm guessing Beane told McD that Dunne wanted to interview him and McD raised no objections.
