It makes you wonder. Maybe somebody with a lot of time on their hands could dig up the statistics on his kicks when Martin was not the holder?
Tyler was so good it really is a shame.

It's not the holder

It's the kicker

Should have cut bait half way through last season. Inexcusable they haven't at least brought in some decent competition.

it's crazy. He was so good before last year. A top kicker imo

That type of fall off is rare

He's never been in the top five or seven... When all you have is one job... Put Football through uprights... That's all you could judge him by

He certainly was ascending before he fell off a cliff... But he's always had a natural fade... Right to left motion... Which is why he kicks pats from the left hash

That's not normal for most kickers and not a consistent thing to repeat

I had zero faith when I saw him on the right hash mark in the playoffs versus the Chiefs with the game on the line

We're carrying a $7.3M dead cap hit if we cut him and move on, too

Do the Bills have an in-house psychotherapist?

psychotherapist, no; sports psychologist, yes.

Nuh uh is always such a great and well thought out response.

Could it just be Bass, sure, but it's not wrong to point out that in OTAs he had a real consistent showing with a different holder then with the same holder he had last season he was more inconsistent.

And the holder does matter, inconsistency there leads to it in the kicks.

New to the NFL?   Happens all the time.  One season a guy is in the Pro Bowl.  Next season he’s missing XPs.

He was 9-9 halfway through the season.

Yeah, well, you always want to cut a player before his slump, rather than after. That way you don't have to put up with someone's bad play.

How were the Bills supposed to predict his slump? I, ah, well, I'll have to get back to you on that.

Yeah I had more confidence in Norwood in Super Bowl 25 than Bass last year. There wasn't a doubt in my mind he would miss that kick by a mile

is a regression of his ability to kick accurately solely a mental issue?

Or he somehow isn't following correct form and he misses?

I mean I know he doesn't line up and intend to miss. Can he look at his previous kicking history and some Special teams guru help him?

Perfection as a kicker is impossible but where he once was good enough may he not revert back? Somehow?

*shrugs*

I vaguely recall McDermott surprisingly not calling on Bass to kick a 50+ yarder late in a game that might have been at midseason. I thought at the time that decision was going to mess with Bass' confidence. Can anyone with a better memory confirm or refute? I'm eager to blame McDermott. 😁
