One large corporation does not own football teams. They are actually called "franchises"--like, say a national pizza chain has franchisees. Is there a local pizza brand affiliate that has an agreement with the national company where the local affiliate has to provide free pizza every Sunday/sometimes Monday night and Thursday too? Do they also force free local pizza eaters to buy their special menu pizza package to get even MORE pizza? no. they do not. this is a failure of comparison on every level. You are getting lost in the details. Pizza and football are both things people enjoy. Neither is a necessity. That is the big picture, and is the basis for my comparison. benderbender
The jury found the NFL liable. They specifically found the NFL overcharged. The rest is haggling over the amount. However, the NFL has the best lawyers money can buy. So they used the old "that depends on what the definition of 'is' is" about the term direct to consumer. It's what money can buy. And for a "non-profit," they spend the GDP of a South American country on lawyers. Probably nothing shady about that.
