Sunday Ticket lawsuit alleges price fixing by the NFL

Recommended Posts

"The NFL also has argued that exclusive TV deals are protected by the Sports Broadcasting Act, which the league said “grants an antitrust exemption for the sale of ‘all or any part’ of broadcasting rights.”"

Is this true? If so, what is the argument that the NFL broke the law?

either way, i am annoyed as hell that this exists. people chose to pay for the services and now suing because they paid too much for their own choices? how dare people make choices!!11111 outrage over the decision to do something on your own free will to get a service you do not require for life1!!1one!!one

Florio has been tracking this case from the very beginning. As a former litigator and corporate attorney, Florio has done a great job explaining every step of the case.

Before the verdict came out, he mentioned that the judge has been very skeptical of much of the case, and most notably the plaintifffs atorneys conduct. He said don't be surprised if the jury returns a guilty verdict with a large award and then the judge reverses it (or lessens the award).

Wonder if the salary cap remains the same or even goes down in the future because of this.

As long as Tua resets the QB market first before the salary cap goes down I have no problem with this !!!

This sort of attitude is so annoying.  What does the owner’s wealth have to do with whether or not this decision is right?

if a law was broken then they should suffer a penalty.  If no wrong was done, then they shouldn’t.

Your stated desire to see someone punished because they are wealthier than you is ugly.  Envy is just as deadly a sin as greed.

The law is broken routinely by these people. Any other set of 32 businesses acting in cahoots with one another would be broken by regulatory authorities

but not these billionaires, they used their wealth and influence to corrupt politicians to write laws to favor them and protect them from antitrust regulations

hopefully, this is the first step to breaking that protection.

I think its more about the game being priced out of range for to many longtime fans. But everyone saw this coming.

The reality is these Billionaires have to see declining value otherwise the game will become out of reach for many of us. Whether or not this was a good ruling is debateable.

All I can say is I have not renewed Sunday ticket for the 1st time in 25 years... Too much to pay to watch 10 games IMO while you also have to pay for 3 to 4 other streaming services to watch and entire season.

So they all share payroll? They don't have individual owners?

Interesting. Tell me more.

The NFL is the business the Owners belong to the business.

There are 32 business untis associated to the NFL and they all have there representitives and voting rights in the NFL

If you do not like it you have 1 and only 1 choice.. Do not goto games, do not watch games. The ONLY recourse fans have is to sto feeding the beast

The NFL has an antitrust exemption. Without it each team could make its own deals for TV broadcasts and the small market / mediocre trams would have less money to spand on facilities plyers, etc. The salary cap would fall apart. Guess what would happen to the league -- the deep-pocketed teams would out bid others for the top players. What do you think would happen to the small market Bills team? Josh Allen would soon be wearing a Jets, Giants or Cowboys jersey.

At this point, good. I'm sick of rich people exerting undue privilege legally to protect and grow their hoards.

Sick of it. No other pro sports leagues outside of the US behave like this. Not EPL. Not any European soccer league. The NFL is a cartel, and should be treated as such.

I have a question. If the NFL said you can vote on a $2000 check or every team gets $10 million extra in cap space what would you choose?

Yeah, is that really a question?

It's a cartel, my man, and it's disallowed in any other form of business outside of sports.
