Sierra Foothills Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Announced today. Some of you hardcore football fans might be able to shed light on some of these players. I know Puca Nacua's brother, Kai was named all-league safety and that the placekicker Jake Bates made 3 FGs of over 60 yards. I wonder how many of these guys end up signing with an NFL team near you. 2024 All-UFL Team Offense Quarterback - Adrian Martinez, Birmingham Stallions Running Back - Jacob Saylors, St. Louis Battlehawks Wide Receiver - Hakeem Butler, St. Louis Battlehawks; Daewood Davis, Memphis Showboats; Marcus Simms, Michigan Panthers Tight End - Jace Sternberger, Birmingham Stallions Offensive Tackle - Jaryd Jones-Smith, St. Louis Battlehawks; Bobby Evans, Arlington Renegades Offensive Guard - Zack Johnson, Birmingham Stallions; Kohl Levao, San Antonio Brahmas Center - Mike Panasiuk, St. Louis Battlehawks Defense Defensive Line - Carlos Davis, Birmingham Stallions; Daniel Wise, Michigan Panthers Edge/Outside Linebacker - Chris Odom, Houston Roughnecks; Breeland Speaks, Michigan Panthers Inside Linebacker - Tavante Beckett, San Antonio Brahmas; Willie Harvey, St. Louis Battlehawks Cornerback - Deandre Baker, D.C. And teams only pay so much to punters So younger options were more appealing than giving him a lot of money I haven't watched the UFL... But he probably does have a stronger leg then haack Edited June 6 by Buffalo716 Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 I thought with the doubts about Tyler Bass that there might be some call to sign Jake Bates, the former Michigan kicker who made 3 FGs of over 60 yards. Upon closer examination he went 17-22 for 77.3%. Some kicker named Andre Szmyt actually went 19-21 for 90.5% and had a long FG of 61 yards. Actually they had several kickers in the UFL with nice stats: https://www.theufl.com/stats/player Quote
78thealltimegreat Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Hey Daniel Wise can play don’t be surprised at all if he isn’t a spot starter on an NFL roster in a few months Edited June 6 by 78thealltimegreat 1 Quote

I'm sure all these players and a few more will get invited to NFL camps. 102 got invites last year but only two made an NFL roster or PS. But that's the whole point of the UFL for players: get noticed and earn one more shot. Edited June 6 by PromoTheRobot 1 Quote

Guys who did not have any starts in the NFL No. Almost everyone on the offensive All-UFL list are guys who were cut from NFL camps last year. (Anyone remember TE Jace Sternberger from Bills training camp?) Returner Chris Rowland stands out along with kickers Bates and Szmyt. Quote
LabattBlue Posted June 6 Posted June 6 YAWN...Who was it here that suggested you aren't a true football fan if you don't follow these leagues? Not you @PromoTheRobot Quote
LeGOATski Posted June 7 Posted June 7 It's like 1 in 4 UFL players land with an NFL team after the season, but most then get cut during preseason. I think only a few have stayed in the NFL since last season. 8 hours ago, LabattBlue said: YAWN...Who was it here that suggested you aren't a true football fan if you don't follow these leagues? Not you @PromoTheRobot Someone said "I like football as much as the next guy, but I won't watch this league" and I told them "then you literally don't like football as much as the next guy"... Maybe you're thinking about that, Idk. It's funny that some people like to go into the UFL thread just to disparage it, but if you honestly love football why wouldn't you want more football in the off-season? 3 Quote

I love college football. I love the NFL. I watch hundreds of games in the fall. I can’t get into this stuff. I’m not sure why. I guess in CFB you have rivalries which is always fun and in the NFL, if you follow the league, you kinda know most guys playing long enough. There’s just something missing. 1 Quote

That's a natural struggle for a new league. If (and that's a big if) it lasts, some can say they watched from the beginning while others can say they only started watching after it got popular. Quote

Plenty of these games are objectively entertaining. Where does that entertainment stem from? If you're a football fan that can be entertained by a Kansas St vs BYU game, for instance, it's not hard to be entertained by the UFL. If you need star players in order to be entertained, then it's not for you. Quote

Wade can just flat out coach defense. I was curious what Bryce Perkins for Michigan would do until he went down last week. I enjoyed watching him at Virginia. Martinez can also be fun to watch. Really enjoy Hakeem Butler, former Iowa State player. The rules are different but I have come to appreciate them. No extra points is a really big deal. It creates tons of scoring combinations that can lead to more excitement. The onside kicks, super challenges, and level of access they give is really interesting. I'm a huge College fan so I like seeing these players. It's good football. I was surprised. This was my first year watching and I enjoyed it. 2 1 Quote

I'm very surprised that he isn't still a defensive coordinator in the NFL. I guess teams get sick of the retreads and want the next new thing, and then quality coaches like Wade get overlooked. 1 Quote
