GASabresIUFan Posted January 13 Posted January 13 By the way Cook is the first 100 yard rusher for the Bills in a playoff game since Thurman Thomas rushed for 158 against Miami in 1995 (30 years ago if anyone is counting). 1 Quote

The projected number for a franchised RB for 2025 is $13.4M. It may even go up by 2026/2027. I think he can be had cheaper over a 3 year deal . Quote
dave mcbride Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I have a gut feeling the Bills extend him this offseason. No info; just a gut feeling. And I don’t think it will cost a lot. 2 Quote

But if you keep it short and cheap and targeted to a small window of time… maybe. 1 Quote
GETTOTHE50 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 He has to be extended. He’s currently the most important skill player on the offense. 2 2 Quote
peterpan Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I am in the “don’t pay RBs” camp. I think a mid round draft pick or budget FA could produce similarly to cook. however the other side of that coin is that RB contracts are in the toilet. Derrick Henry signed a 2 year 16 mil deal and I think Barkley is making 12 mil a year. I think those deals combined is what we just payed Spencer brown lol!!!! so I guess if Cook is a top 3-5 back I’d extend him for 8-10 mil. 2 1 Quote

Last season, the Oline was significantly worse than this year especially up the middle and Cook went for 1500 yards from scrimmage. This season, they rotated back more to keep Cook fresh and we saw the results today. There is no question that Cook isn't a bruiser like Henry or Barkley, but has elite speed and vision excellent hands and is among the league leaders in yards from scrimmage despite significantly less touches than the other highly ranking RBs. The fact that we utilize a semi-committee approach should help reduce the cost of the next contract. 1 Quote

gobills404 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Well thankfully there’s another full year before Beane has to make this decision because there are several players I hope get extended first. I love me some jimbo but I still don’t believe in paying RBs big money, especially if they’re not an every down back. If Benford, Rousseau, and Shakir all ink new deals and there’s still room for Cook then I’ll be stoked. 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Im in the don't pay big money to RB's crowd...but if we can keep him for under $10M I would be on board. 3 Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Here’s the question. Would you rather spend a 2nd round pick or $12 million a year in cap space on a RB? Quote
Cheektowaga Chad Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I think it would be smart to extend him if you could extend him for around what sportac has as his market value of 8.9 million Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted January 13 Posted January 13 The prime for a RB is age 26-28 Give him a 3 yr extension Quote
BillMafia716ix Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Cook has definitely earned his money this year. Needs to be extended for sure. Quote

I don’t think they ever use a 1st on a RB and I don’t think they pay someone else instead of Cook. The other cheaper options are what I would do. Quote
