You might as well fill those spaces with insane athletic talent and see if you get surprised. The Bills have a whole lot of lotto ticket players at camp and if 1-2 of them hit Beane will end up looking like a genius. This situation happens every day to all sorts of people in all sorts of professions. Maybe it's not fair but it is the way it is. You can work hard at something all your life and your peak might not be as good as someone who just picked it up. I played a club sport at a high level after college and convinced my brother in law to try out for the team I was on. Not only did he make it, he ended up higher on the roster than me because of his excellent athletic skill, despite me playing the game for 10+ years. Just the other day we were discussing who the Bills should sign with their remaining few million dollars.
