Personally feel he’s become a nice weapon - seems to be gritty and tough when you need him

has had some nice contested catches too and tds - more than I have seen of Samuel

Oh, not what I expected, a very misleading topic stated...

Oh well, a very good post nonetheless.

I like that he has been more involved lately, a big, aggressive wide receiver, who can go up and get the ball.

Shoot, the guy had an excellent year just two years ago, with a much lesser quarterback in Carr throwing to him:  690 yards, 12.1 ypc. and 4 TDS.  He won't hit those numbers this year, but as he is being integrated more now it is clear he can make a difference this year.

Heard today on the 1Billsdrive podcast that he's the loudest player on offense, encouraging other guys. Good to hear.

Hope he can play some too, but a vet presence in the WR room is good.

Well good thing we have him as the #1 Cheerleader since the Buffalo Jills are no more.

When he catches the ball it's either a first down or a touchdown.  He is a very good WR4.

Thing is, Davis was our #2.  Hollins a little down farther on the depth chart.

But is he, though? Because he's on the field an awful lot.

Shoeless Joe Mack Hollins is doing a pretty fair job for us, he produces in pass catching and run blocking for the RBs and his fellow receivers, as said above, he is a good WR4.

If Coleman and Cooper are healthy, he is the third outside WR.  Add the slot being Shakir that makes him WR4.

I will go far enough to say that I would have no problem having him on the team next season in that role.

From the way that Beane constructed the receiver corps this offseason, it seemed to me that Hollins role would be as a downfield blocker, an occasional check down option, an occasional EZ option, and a core ST. I don't think they ever viewed him in a "Gabe Davis" type role, or as a boundary receiver. And all the leadership stuff was just gravy. In this regard, he has exceeded expectations, IMO.

The hate is from those just want to be right from their original bad take that he was Trent Sheffield - close to useless.  He’s not

He has played 350 snaps and has 111 yards and a paltry 4.2 YPT.

I’m pretty confident that may be the worst yardage total by any WR in the NFL with > 350 snaps.

So sure. He’s a good blocker. He may be the most useless actual receiver in the NFL.

that’s just a ridiculous statement.  Curtis Samuel is obviously the most useless actual reciever.

Hollins just caught a 4th down TD.  3 TDs on the season.  A handful of key 3rd down conversions.  And he’s useless as a receiver.  You can continue your crusade already proven false.

AND he’s a great downfield blocker that has erased his man on several plays.  AND he is a great ST player. Recovered a fumble.  Great locker room guy.  3M.  He’s been a plus player and well worth the 3M people like to cry about.

Can't wait to see the "plus" player playing 90% of snaps on the boundary this week. Maybe Josh will break a record of throws that travel less than 1 yard in the air this go round.

I’m all for it.  It’s been getting the job done.  2 poor games, with an injured WR1 and that’s all anyone thinks about.

Teams will have to start coming up closer to the LoS, opening up the deep ball.  In his career, he’s shown capable of beating his man and making plays down field.  His route running is better than people give him credit for.

mahomes dinked and dunked his way to consecutive lombardis.

To add to what @NewEra has said, of Hollins' 12 receptions, 10 of them have been for 1st downs.

That includes a clutch catch for a 1st down at the end of the 1st half against Miami that ended in a field goal, and another clutch catch for a 1st down on the game-winning drive.

We've already seen it.  Josh went 9/30 missing just Shakir. Now he's missing Coleman and Cooper.

Mack has outsnapped his last year in Atlanta already. And still has less than half the yards he did last.  "Capable of beating his man and making plays down field" is pissing on my head and telling me it's raining.

The. guy. sucks.  You want him WR6/ST?  Sure fine. He's WR2 in snaps. He's not good enough for that. He's putting up Lee Smith blocking TE numbers because he's just about as good of a receiver lmao.

Wow, 2 first downs in a game? 10 on the year? These are not good numbers for a guy who is the #2 WR in snaps.

1 first down every 35 snaps is roughly 2 first downs a game lol. Gabe Davis clears those numbers and he's having the worst year of his career in Jacksonville.

Isn’t he the guy who doesn’t believe in birds?

EDIT: Just found it. He’s the guy who doesn’t believe in wearing shoes - except on the football field - and doesn’t believe in using utensils “just eat with your hands.”

One of the draft prospects this year doesn’t believe in birds. How or why, I don’t know.

It’s a known fact birds are not real!!!

But it’s really just a conspiracy theory that people say they are government spy drones.

Ignorance

You know who used to argue that Mack Hollins was good enough all offseason, only to watch their GM trade a third round pick as soon as he could to get him back to the bench ASAP?

Arguing that Mack is good enough to deserve 65% of offensive snaps is arguing with the GM who certainly didn’t trade for Amari Cooper to keep Mack’s “vibes” on the field.  He watched Mack’s highest target game be one of the worst games of Josh’s career. Just a big coincidence lol.

He’s a great blocker and good on ST. That’s how he carved out an NFL career as a WR that can’t do anything else well as a WR. Marcus Easley with better PR.

He’s a good team leader and does what’s asked of him. He is limited talent wise. But we’re a better team with him than without him. Due to injuries and Samuel’s ineffectiveness he’s played WR more than we probably expect or want. But at least he’s not like the FA receivers from last year that I hated to ever seeing in the lineup.
