It's way too early to tell, but I'll throw two out there.  I don't expect Cookie to be back in form until the 2025 season.  Broken legs take anywhere from 6 months to a year to fully heal. If he comes back sooner, great, but I'm not expecting it.

The other is Von Miller.  Expecting him to come back less than a year later from the ACL was unrealistic. He was largely ineffective, but I saw a few flashes in his last two games.  I'm hoping he's all the way back.  I'm going to put $10 (I know, 5Gs or it doesn't count) on the 25000 to 1 odds of Von being DPOY.  I'll post from a beach somewhere after I score a cool quarter mill....

Where did you hear it was a torn ACL? That’s news to me.

Apparently I am mistaken. As oldmanfan stated above, it was a tibial plateau fracture. I might have associated that with an ACL tear, because I actually had a tibial plateau fracture, as well as an ACL tear from a skiing accident. That injury required two surgeries to repair. Also, worth noting that a tibial plateau fracture really is a knee injury, and very likely has some amount of soft tissue damage associated with it. (For me, it was a tibial plateau fracture, ACL tear, meniscus damage, and MCL tear.) Hopefully Milano's is not too bad, but even with a full recovery, it's going to take some time to bounce back from.

I think players like Deion Jones, Dawuane Smoot, Chase Claypool and MVS need fantastic camp performances to avoid practice squad.

I expect Von Miller to perform well this year, but this year will be it.  I think what's left in the tank is 2024.  He'll give it his all because he doesn't want to go out with those 2023 stats.
