You left off 2020 - I said last 5 years, the 5 years of Josh's prime where we used a first and a 4th on Diggs.

How many other teams in the NFL have invested 3 first round picks in receiving weapons in the past 5 years in their QB?  Not to mention help on the OL and RB as well in the first 2 and 3 rounds.  But honestly, how many teams do you think spend 3 first rounders on receiving help for their QB over the past 5 drafts?

Again, we have been investing plenty into surrounding Josh with help.  No disrespect, but its just not factually accurate that Josh isn't a priority.  Beane has spent a lot of resources (cap and draft picks) on the offense around Josh both in the trenches and as weapons over the past 5 years.  You may not agree with how they invested, but they have been and its clear Josh is a priortiy.

And quite honestly, I think Josh is about to have his best season to date.  But here is what this board will do...they will say "Its all Josh, he is having to do it all" and still won't acknowledge the help around him.  The same people (not saying you per se, just in general) are going to be harping about WR's no matter how many yards or TDs throws.

They already do it now...Bills are 2nd highest scoring team the last 5 years, Josh averages over 5000 yards and 44 TD's...but it’s already "All Josh" according to the WR or die crew around here.

That’s my bad I should’ve wrote this in my last post. I left off 2020 intentionally because that class has no barring on helping Josh now. Diggs and Davis are no longer on the team and rookie contracts are 4 years long (with the 5th year option). Where are all the rookie WRs we’ve drafted to develop with Josh the last 4 years? Shakir is it outside of replace our top 2 WRs with 1 Keon Coleman in this year’s class. And please no one give me special teams specialist Justin Shorter, who isn’t a legit NFL WR and wouldn’t have been drafted in this class.

I do like that Beane brought so much competition with 3rd chance options like Claypool, Hamler, MVS, Hollins, etc but I think you do this on the defensive side of the ball where your head coach supposedly thrives at getting the most out of free agent players (Hyde, Poyer, D. Jones). You prioritize WR in the draft for 3 reasons:

1. WRs are crazy expensive once they hit free agency

2. If you draft multiple WRs each year for your franchise QB, you have cheap options that have time develop with your QB, not 1 year dart throws

3. When your best WRs do want to get paid and you don’t want to pay them, you have plenty of options waiting in the wings to step up and fill the holes (GB, Cincy and SF)

In the Bills behind the scenes of the draft video they released, back at the combine after Coleman turned in his disappointing 40 time Brandon Beane said he was pleased that his time was slow so they would be able to get him at 28.   Clearly they were interested in him well before the draft.

This gives you an idea of how skilled Beane has been evaluating WRs in the draft since he got here years ago.

Completely disagree with the bolded.  Allen was having a massive statistical year under Dorsey.  It wasn't an accountability issue with Allen.

Dorsey sucked.  He didn't prepare good enough game plans and couldn't make enough in game adjustments.

Josh is a total stud and also respectful.  I can't stand it when fans act like he needs his hand held or has some kind of psychological issues.

The team played better when Dorsey left because he was awful.

I agree Dorsey was awful, and Josh is a beast, I would put it like this, Dorsey and Josh were more buddies than Josh and Brady, it’s a bit more if a professional relationship now, which I think is better overall, jmo.

Apparently I'm the only one who didn't know the new stadium will have a grass field?

I'm surprised that hasn't been a bigger topic of conversation here.

Super happy to hear this... might playing on grass have some impact on the roster building strategy?

Is this incessant whining about fans not getting the WR they wanted via the draft / not trading for them going to go on all year?  The draft is over so all that **** should be done by now.

Many get it, you don't like how brane drafts, you and some experts who have never worked as a gm feels he picked wrong blah blah blah.  We get it and it's beyond old.  Many are stating the same **** over and over and over with nothing new added...because there is nothing new to add.

Beane said don't expect a big trade after June 1st. He has tricked us before, but I believe him this time. Odds are he is telling the truth.  Start dealing with the fact this is pretty much the team we are taking to camp

Get over the draft etc. And let's support Josh, Brady and the team we have already.

One of the biggest things I caught, and I think this was a pimp back hand to Dabol as much as dorsey, was him talking about forcing designed plays.

He specifically talked about the Dallas game where they had a ton of  pass plays designed and practiced all week.  But we started running the ball so well Brady said hell yeah! And kept with the run.

He said some OC's won't budge and keep forcing what was practiced all week.  When you think of it, we ha e seen a ton of that, even with Dabol.  If Brady is the type to say "screw what we practiced it's not working" and willing to adjust... we are in damn good shape going forward if the Dallas adjustments were any indication.

I agree with you. I was only responding to the guy who stated we didn’t trade up in the first round for one of the top 3 WR and he’s ok with it because we ended up with Carter and Bishop instead. I know it would’ve taken more than what we had to get up that high.

If we are still playing this hypothetical though I would’ve been all about trading 28, 60 and one of next years 2nds for Odunze

To be clear, that guy said Bishop and Carter AND still keep next years 1 and both 2s.

Ok, that was a fair reason to leave off 2020 in terms of analyzing today, but going back 5 years isn't always about today.  As far as where are all the rookies at...Well Diggs was in his 20's until last year and had been extended and expected to be here another 2 years.  Things changed, but trading him this year was not the plan 2 years ago.  Last year they looked at young weapon, and the best one on the board was Kincaid after the run of WR's.  And I know from someone at the Chargers that they at least called the Chargers to trade up for what was believed to be for Addison.

So, you want to know where are all the young WR's are...well you are looking at literally 3 of them on our roster right now in Coleman, Kincaid, and Shakir.  And I guarantee you any team in the league would pounce if the Bills made either Shakir or Kincaid available in a trade, they are very promising players and both poised for potentially big years this season.

No disagreement, WR market is crazy expensive...and I think a team is better off not paying a mega contract and instead having a very good WR room rather than a top heavy one with a mega deal and some meh pieces around them.

No disrespect, but no team is drafting multiple WR's every year, that just doesn't make sense, you have an entire roster to build.  Teams frequently taking WR's are teams who suck at drafting WR's

2 years ago, Diggs was the plan.  He was extended and expected to be here 2 more years.  They started adding more receiving weapons last year knowing Davis was gonna likely be gone when they took Kincaid.  They also beefed up the OL and had a young RB to also help Josh.  This notion on "Wide Receivers" help Josh some share around here is just false.  Investments into the OL and to establish a run game not only helped Josh, but turned our season around last year when the air it out to a Alpha WR and don't run the ball mentality had us at 5-5 and well outside the playoffs.

Here is what I think is the most important point...Josh does not need an "Alpha" dominant WR anymore like he did when we got Diggs.  At that stage he was an ascending young QB and benefited from having that type of player.  But Josh is on a whole other level now, in fact, I think its actually better for Josh to not have that kind of player to try and force the ball too.

This team proved last year that it won more games, beat better teams, when it went out there and played a balanced style of football and spread the ball around.  There are many ways to win a Super Bowl...there are teams who are run dominant...there are teams that are teams who are airing it out to a big time WR...there are balanced team who both run the ball well and spread the ball around.  And if you go back and look at each team that won the Super Bowl in the modern era, which of those do you think is overwhelmingly more common?  The balanced spread the ball around team.

Most SB winners do not have a "dominant" WR1...sure every team has some WR1 who gets their yards and production from being a WR1, but how many of them were actually elite players at the time those teams won the SB?  Very few teams had that guy.  Would it be great to have a top 5 WR...sure...and we did the past 4 seasons and didn't get past the 2nd round but once.  But by no means is it a necessity and history has proven that.

I think most people issue here is that they just didn't like Coleman.  There are people here who would have preferred Worthy, Legette, or even Franklin who lasted until the 4th or 5th round over Coleman.  So in those peoples eyes, the WR room looks worse when it factually isn't.  Doesn't matter what your opinion is, my opinion is, or anyones opinion is on Coleman...the 100% truth...the ONLY truth is that today, right now, he has the potential to be a great player for us just like any rookie has today on any team no matter your draft position.  And just like any rookie from the first one to the last one, they can all potentially bust too.

So...for me, I am very exctied about Shakirs and Kincaids future and I was high on Coleman before the draft and love him even more now.  I think he is a great fit for this team and Josh.  You don't win games throwing an 80 yard bomb very often...you win games by winning in the trenches, moving the chains, and getting TD's while in the red zone.  Give me a team who effectively and consistently makes plays to move the chains and has a high redzone percentage every time over a team who force feeds a top 5 WR.

But, like all of us...none of these opinions matter until we see this unit on the field and can really know what we do or don't have out there.

I can't prove it but I believe that if Andy Reid was our OC instead of Joe Brady, we'd have enough offensive weapons right now to put together a potent aerial attack.

We pretty much know the 2024 roster.  We can only hope that Brady can do something with it.

Oh no not NFL coaches that come into your pub! He’s got great hands, just snatches the ball without hesitation. If not the BEST hands, off the top of my head they’re in the top tier with Polk, Odunze and AD Mitchell. Maybe tell your coaching buddies they need to watch a little closer. Coleman is a natural hands catcher and it’s why he doesn’t have to slow down his routes to make a play on the ball.

Lord you guys take everything to heart. Theres a difference between saying best hands and sone of the best hands. Think about what I responded to from the original quote.

Blows my mind that actual NFL coaches. Ine being very high up with the Pats right now. Knows less than you on a message board. I personally was praying to god he wasnt our pick. Huge Gator fan and Im also an OC for a high school down here in Fl. I watch alotof FSU games. I just dont like him. He lumbers waves his arms to much as he runs. Not compact at all. With his size he isnt the best with contested balls. Hey I hope Om wrong. I was Ecstatic for the Kincaid, pick last year and literally a chair when they picked Elam. Watching him at Fl was cringe worthy. Esp man to man. Wasnt physical at all.

Just talking football. People need to more open minded. Its a football message board. Talk football and dont take things to heart so much. We can be wrong. Its ok.

What's done is done. No one is whinning or being incessant about Beane's decision not to double dip. I personally think it might come back to bite him if certain current wrs don't pan out. And a wr rich draft like we just saw doesn't come around every year.  Maybe Samuel, MVS and Coleman shine? Rookie wr contracts have great value. So BB is rolling the dice here.

True enough. I like the way he catches the ball. I believe he’s a natural hands catcher and it will translate very well. Not as many routine drops that we’ve seen from guys like Gabe Davis. Coleman wasn’t my favorite prospect either. I think he was #13 on my board but if the bills wanted a Tee Higgins type I’m fine with it.

Molly, it's great that you coordinate a high school offense.  Thanks for serving the kids.

I read a report on Coleman written by a former NFL scout who projected Coleman will become an All Pro.  No offense, but I'm taking his evaluation over yours.  Beyond the matter of comparative expertise, I just like his opinion better.

Though I have to acknowledge that another former NFL scout pessimistically predicted Coleman's NFL career will be a "slow fade."   Beane's obviously more inclined to agree with the former scout and we have to hope he's right.

But as you say, it's okay for us fans to be wrong.   When even professional scouts can't agree on Coleman (or many other draft picks, for that matter), I personally don't get too attached to my own opinions.

I love Odunze as much as anyone, but how do you know Coleman won't be a top 10 WR himself?  Most importantly, you do not NEED a top 10 WR, its be proven over and over and over that a top 10 WR is NOT a mandated player to be a SB champion.

Why are you and so many people wasting breath on this concept we should have traded with the Bears.  You realize the Bears had to have wanted to trade with the Bills, and they clearly didn't considering everyone and their mom knew the Bills both needed and wanted to take a WR early and the Bears didn't call Beane even once.  In fact, no team in the top 10 picks called the Bills, who again, everyone knew needed and wanted a WR, to trade back to 28.

This isn't madden where you just meet a threshold of min trade commitment and the trade is accepted.  Some of you need to get over it and just move on.  Trading up for Odunze, Nabers, or MHJ was never at any moment on the table for us as nobody had any interest to trading back to 28 that was in range to get any of those guys.

Very well said @Alphadawg7.  All points are true....and like you say, who knows where Coleman will rank out at eventually??  He does have JA17 tossing the ball to him after all!!

Chiefs and Packers really regret trading their top 5 wrs.  I think Buffalo was late to the party.  Extending him was the wrong decision.  Diggs souring on the organization aside.

Disagree.  It is not about Josh needs hand holding;  It is all about the discipline/respect that you maintain that allows you to get to that next level.

If you see 2023 season summer camp videos - you can see Allen goofing and bantering with Dorsey.   While it might help him be relaxed, it also takes the edge off for him to be performing at the next level as it is humans for us to take that relationship for granted.

I am sure Mahomes is not goofing around with Andy Reid;

He already was next level.
