Frankly, I think a man's role is fulfilled by being a dad and husband. At least mine is.

Taxes were certainly one of them, but I’d argue it was a general desire for self-government instead of a king on the other side of the ocean.

A tipping point sure, but remember, the colonies wanted to keep expanding west and were forbidden from doing so by the british government via the Proclamation of 1763. Revolutionary attitudes were sown as early as the French and Indian War.
