I hope I'm wrong....but this player reminds me of McCargo.

If Mccargo was a 3rd rd pick his career would be perceived different.  6 year NFL career but didn't meet his potential.  Sounds like numerous 3rd rd picks.  Trading up for him in Rd 1 was the problem.

They’re very different in terms of mental makeup. Carter is a multiple year captain and leader type. McCargo was quiet and laid back.

They’re built similarly. McCargo was a highly rated prospect that never put it together. A lot of prospects can be similar and have completely different NFL careers.

In the sense that they both play defensive tackle, sure.

In every other conceivable way....not so much.

May I ask what it is about him that reminds you of John McCargo? I'm very curious.

Probably reminds him of McCargo because he’s not Troy Franklin or Javon Baker.

Just their size and a feeling that likely means nothing!

To be fair...I wanted Franklin or Baker (or literally any other receiver) over a depth DT, too....but I still don't see where a John McCargo comparison comes into play for DeWayne Carter.

So did everyone. Carter will be hated around here I believe.

Yep, even when Franklin and Baker are not doing anything in the league, some other dude drafted behind him will be more impactful and the fans will be screaming they knew WR was the right choice.

You ARE wrong.

He reminds me more of Marcell Dareus.

I'm hoping he turns out to be more like that other defensive tackle we took in that draft

This guy is a Harrison Philips clone.  Similar size, mental make up appears to be the same- both are smart and good leaders.  I’d very happy if he ends up like Philips.

Fun fact: I was once in the war room for a draft pick. It was John McCargo. 😂😂

McCargo was a comparable 1st round bust to Maybin. He started 1 game in his terrible 6 yr career.  Carter is a 3rd round rotational DT who could very well take over DQ's spot when he's gone.  He's got a great personality that could easily translate to a very good player. I don’t see any comparison to McCargo.

.....and for the record I wanted Franklin too but apparently Brandon had no intention of ever double dipping this draft.  Carter will be fine.  The same might not be said for whatever wr is supposed to step up and become the double dip?

Not even close.

McCargo was borderline lazy and a follower, not very bright.   Carter is the polar opposite.  A leader (team captain), articulate, hard working.

Carter is, imo, going to end up being a fan favorit!  Great pick and give credit to Beane for trading back to pick him up.

My God, very happy you are not a scout for the Bills.

I like how you declare the other poster's opinion is "wrong".

I though the McCargo refernce was off, this is even worse.  Marcel the lazy great underachiever.
