90 players currently signed.  With the international player that leaves 1 spot left before any musical chairs start.

Spotrac is caught up with the UDFAs and only the rookies left to account for.

I figure around $1.7M of Top 51 cap to sign the rookies.

Spotrac has Bills at $2.98M minus the $1.7M leaves about $1.28M before the Tre money gets released June 1st.

Gives Beane enough to sign 1-2 cheap FAs with enough left over for PS and season cash.

All in all, Beane did OK with his cap so far considering all the changes.

See if you can get a copy of Bill's bill from his Bills Bills jersey.

Then on game day at a crucial point in the game he reports as an eligible receiver and catches a touchdown pass.

"TOUCHDOWN BILLS, BY BILLS!!!"

I'm kinda hoping the longshot Punter makes it. Jack Browning.  Would love a young cheap punter that can hold (if he can, I have no idea). I don't care for Haack and Martin looked like he had a dead leg at times last year.

He can hold. He actually held for Matt Araiza when he was the guy at SDSU. But the last two years Browning took over the job and served as both punter and placekicker as well as handled kickoffs. Career long FG of 61. Apparently has a live leg. I don’t know of he really unseats Martin, but he is definitely interesting and may improve being able to focus on punting alone.

Hm. Could be an interesting PS stash when all is said and done. Let Martin start the year while Browning hones his skill. And shoot, if he can kick as well that's double coverage for both specialists in one PS spot. Not terrible value in that IMO.

Playing both punter and kicker could actually be that small edge he needs, to secure a roster spot. Let's say the kicker gets injured partway through the game. If you have a guy like Browning, that means you're still okay on kickoffs, and can still attempt field goals. Just as Beane values versatility among backup offensive linemen, perhaps he would value it here, as well.

As usual it is UDFA's so it is going to be hard make the 53. I think the following UDFA's got a decent shot at making the 53.

  1. The two corners Lovely and Couch. The Bills carry 6 corners usually (with Cam Lewis listed as a safety) and right now Ingram is listed as the 6th CB. Ingram has spent the past two years bouncing between the PS and 53, clearly for him to hang around the system for 2 seasons and signed for a 3rd camp he's got something the coaching staff likes. However, if Lovely or Couch really impress it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they try to get Ingram back on the PS.
  2. Frank Gore Jr. Davis and Cook will make the 53 but the Bills carry 3 pure RB's and I do think Ty Johnson is more likely to be the RB2 than get cut but if Gore Jr has a really strong camp and Johnson has a lackluster camp there is the possibility of displacement. Injury could also be a factor here.
  3. Browning. Kicker/Punter is always a volatile position and Martin is not coming off a great season either. So a punter getting on the 53 is always a reasonable possibility.

The rest are likely battling for PS spots unless they really show out which while possible is not always likely.

Hope they both make it. At worst we'll have a nice Living Room.

Kidding aside, I pretty much agree with all that.   I also think Xavier Johnson might have a decent shot at the PS, since he can probably play running back in a pinch.

I think Xavier Jones has a Levi Wallace shot.  Wr room is wide open.  Most of the focus has been on the back up X.  That could be Hollins and Jones can do the Samuel stuff.  Plays all teams and has return ability.  Long shot but an interesting one.

If the Bills keep both of them, does that mean they'll be awarded a very nice-looking piece of furniture for people to sit on? 😮

Looks like Carter got his college number 90 after all. I think in the embedded video they gave him 94 and he said (in the video) that he was going to have to change that. With Shaq Lawson not back, I wonder if anyone else had 90 and he had to work out a deal with them?
