I don't know if they actually fell for the note, but I did buy a few and was a a hit with my pals. Of course, we only read the articles. The only ones I ever bought as an adult were for the John Lennon and the O.J. Simpson interviews. One of my local musician friends who was a singer in L.A. back in the day, was shown in a pictorial (full frontal) for a feature about 'the women of rock'. FWIW, I've never had much interest in the smutty porno mags or even the strip clubs. I don't go to buffets to watch people eat. Badger, is that you? 😆

BTW, I have another musician friend here, same last name, and I believe is also a cousin.

DrDawkinstein
Slightly related, speaking of the days of good ol porno magazines... Back in the 90s when I was in High School, well before internet porn, and we had old playboys/penthouse/hustlers laying around, we would play something we called "Gifts From Above". We would roll up a magazine and put a rubber band around it, then drive by the middle school bus stop and pelt the kids with all these tubes of destruction. They'd be all pissed off from being attacked, but then as we were driving off, we'd see them unroll a tube, figure out what they were, and then start celebrating and high-fiving. Good times.
PastaJoe
My childhood experience in the 60s and 70s consisted of a neighborhood kid finding one on the street and showing it around. Then years later I went to a friend’s house and my mind exploded as he showed me a stack that his stepfather gave him. 🤯

I can't say if that is true or not but reading this damn forum in brail really sucks. I have one issue I have saved over the years. It is the issue with John Lennon's last interview.

She was a freaking complete 10 and her cousin got pissed off about me talking to her, but SHE introduced us. What was I supposed to do, ignore her? I met Kimberly McArthur, Miss January 1982, when she was appearing at some event at the hotel I was working at. She was incredibly hot and also very friendly and sweet. 1

Back in elementary school, when I was in 5th grade, we had a 6th grader on the bus, who's Dad not only got Playboy, but also Penthouse, Hustler, Cherry, etc. Some interesting rides home at times.
