Another Fan Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I know as a kid growing up that magazine along with Playboy TV seemed the ultimate in risque adult stuff growing up. Little did I know though that that was just the tip of the iceberg then. Lol I have a couple magazines I hold as collector items/nostalgia kind of thing. It usually involved me being a fan or liking whomever was on the cover. I have the physical copies of the issues where Geri Halliwell, Cindy Crawford, and Lisa Rinna (pre-housewives) were on the cover. I still have the Maxim and Blender magazines Christina Aguilera was on the cover in the early 2000s. Funny story if anything this thread is making me think of my late Uncle (R.I.P). He lead a pretty minimalist lifestyle in general. When my aunt and uncle went to his apartment to clean it out well it seemed he had years and years subscriptions to Playboy magazine. Apparently he had hundreds of them in his apartment. Quote
T&C Posted May 1 Posted May 1 September 1971 is the only one I'd want... there is a pretty cool game in that one. As far as the T's & C's go... after seeing thousands of them, it's not much of a big deal really. Look for the puzzle cover... Quote

Wacka Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) A friend grew up in Gettysburg,PA. He still had a an early 70's Playboy. He kept it because th centerfold in the issue was a HS classmate of his. Everybody in town knew her before Playboy because her parents owned a small local amusement park. He showed us her picture in the yearbook. Her name in Playboy was different because her last name (I kid you not) was D*ck.😀 Edited May 1 by Wacka Quote

SoMAn Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Can't say I ever collected them, but I used to forge my parents' signature with a note to the pharmacist or whomever, telling them to allow their 12-year old son, (who rode his Schwinn Stingray to Leader Drugs) to purchase the magazine. I don't know if they actually fell for the note, but I did buy a few and was a a hit with my pals. Of course, we only read the articles. The only ones I ever bought as an adult were for the John Lennon and the O.J. Simpson interviews. One of my local musician friends who was a singer in L.A. back in the day, was shown in a pictorial (full frontal) for a feature about 'the women of rock'. FWIW, I've never had much interest in the smutty porno mags or even the strip clubs. I don't go to buffets to watch people eat. 1 Quote
Fleezoid Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Playboy was a great picture book! And Hugh Hefner was a genius! Getting rich making hot girls rich and famous so he could live with them. Quote

Augie Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I got my working papers when I was 14 in NYS, and many of my high school summers were spent coming and going from trailers covered with the fold outs while I did landscaping and maintenance. Did I mention I was a 14 year old boy? Quote
Bills4everNY Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I remember when I was in my early teens and Playboy was right on the magazine stand. I would take a different magazine and put the Playboy magazine inside of it so nobody could tell what I was looking at. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did that. Quote

It was a leading cause of blindness amongst boys that age back in the day. I think I read that, anyway. 2 Quote
Nextmanup Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Unlike almost everyone else, I did NOT read the magazine for the articles. 😛 1 Quote

LOL, reminds me of a adult friend at work. I went into his office one time and he was reading a work related rag and asked me if I saw the main story in it. i replied I don't read that crap. He calls me over and says well look at this .... he had a Penthouse in it with some chick laid out! 1 Quote
