I don’t know about that, but I’d certainly think he was complicit in lots of ugly **** going on back in Hollywood/music scene for much of his time as a professional.  He was well-connected with insiders setting up interviews, meeting with stars, etc. The best way to avoid any comeuppance in that regard is to have a full blown rebirth, especially given the immense wealth he’s accumulated over the decades.

Maybe Harris is going to ask him about all that.

He was not on the inside. Until maybe 97-98 he was hated. When he got the new PR woman in the early 10's he became mainstream.

Jimmy kimmel, Zach braff, and others brought him to Hollywood.

Yeah, I still oppose the idea that Stern is racist.

I agree.  His friendship/partnership with Robin Quivers doesn't happen if he were a racist.  I just think he used that to do/say racist things and get away with it because of Robin's tacit approval.

That and they were funny. "Racism" can be funny when it's produced right to mock and belittle the act of it. To be outright racist and behave as it is not.

If Chapelle can mock white folks than Stern can mock the black folks. Humor doesn't have to be funny for everyone. But, by George, ya gotta laugh sometimes.

The comedian angle does not apply.

Again you must force the left play by their own insane rules.

See Barr, Roseanne.

If Stern were a Trump supporter he'd have been canceled and ruined long ago.

Not a leftist and discuss blackface as part of a costume?

Fired.

Leftist who actually has worn blackface while using the n word?

You get an extremely rare interview with the first black female VP.

1997 was nearly 3 decades ago, and he’s been a major player since well before that.  I’m not certain what you characterize as “hated”, but he was a very successful media personality and just based on his style, it’s highly likely his people were digging for dirt, angles and controversial material his entire career.  I started listening to him in 1985ish, and understand your point on his version of comedy.

However, given his rage at people he disagrees with now, and his declarations on what he hopes happens to them, it’s also fair to view his past bits and wonder what level of animus, condescension racism/sexism/homophobia played a part in all that.

Either way, his past actions are what he brings to the table, and it’s always sort of cringey when a person sees the light long after their behavior has earned them a few hundred mill.

And what was a bridge too far for Dave Chapelle?

Telling a joke about trans people.

Massive cancel campaign resulted and he was attacked on stage by a lunatic.

What saved Chapelle was his steadfast refusal to give in and apologize to the woke mob.

A joke about troons is always funny. I'm amazed Chappelle got cancelled.

His rage at others who mailed it in began his downward spiral for me. He's worse than Imus now.

His rants about politics always were funny until he started attacking his audience. I could laugh at him making fun of Bush, Clinton... But then Obama happened. He stopped joking about it.

"You need to do more interviews"

Okay.

Appears on Daddy, Stern, Colbert, and the View.

Do any of you here REALLY think that voters in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are going to be impressed by that ??

I saw Springsteen in the Meadowlands in the 1980s.  He said at one point “Blind faith in your government can get you killed…”.  There was a tremendous applause as the gathered masses—cons, lib, agnostic—-recognized the truth of that statement.

Years later, he goes full throated supporter of a political party, an aging kazillionaire aligning with government that suits his agenda.

He was right the first time.

Who cares what the manic, depressed, idiot thinks.    Screen door must have slammed on his head too many times.  What a mess.

Cameltoe fits right in with some of the people he had on years ago. Crackhead Bob, Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf, High Pitch Eric, etc.

You were duped in the 80s.  I see that statement and think he's been a Dem shill the whole time.  The 80's version was more calculating and hidden in his motives (but hated Reagan for sure).  Today's version has to announce his fealty to the Party to stay relevant.  He's just a businessman at the core of his being, music is secondary.

A guy in a Springsteen shirt flipped your books at Gowanda Jr High in '78, didn't he, Irv?

You could be right on this, Scot.  Good God that's dark, but you may be correct.
