Bo Callahan was the "flavor of the month," much-hyped QB prospect. The GM was under pressure by the owner, so he initially thought he needed to make a splash. In truth, the script for this movie is far-fetched, but it's an enjoyable watch if you like the NFL draft and Kevin Costner. Bo Callahan always reminded me of Darnold, Clausen, Mallet, etc.........you know, guys like that. Nothing real special long term, but real special on draft day. 1 Quote

Regardless of it being somewhat unrealistic in terms of the moves that are made, I don’t believe it’s unrealistic in how things are done generally. Over exaggerated quite a bit in sure. I don’t think there’s as many surprises as in the movie as the real draft, at least not at pick 1. But they had to sell it and if you were talking about pick 3,4,5… I bet it’s very likely. It’s the whole Aaron Rodgers falling scenario. Sure the 3 second rounders for a top 10 pick is rediculous; but for the sake of the movie they had to do something. They fixed it by commenting about the “rookie GM” thing and made that kid all twitchy like Tweek from South Park. overall, love the movie. It’s a tradition to me at this point, like watching Christmas Story and Die Hard on Christmas Eve. FACT: There is not one person on the planet who can honestly say that there is a noticeable difference between a standard DVD and a Blu-Ray DVD. 100% gimmick 1 Quote
Success Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Honestly, that was a bad GM. He had tunnel vision about Mack, so went WAY out of his way to find some flaw w/ Callahan (teammates at a b-day party? Did he ask about Mack's birthday?) No objectivity, and very stubborn. I doubt that Browns team ended up doing anything. Quote

My wife was like “you’re seriously dragging them to the movies so you don’t have to be a weirdo sitting alone in the theatre ? “ I said “yes” I like being the weirdo alone at the movies... I buy a handicap ticket so there's no one next to me, and eat my popcorn like a deranged slob. Now I want to go to the movies again. Is anything out? 3 Quote

Beast Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I mean, unless the movies are based in true stories, aren’t all movies far fetched? 1 Quote

I've seen it a couple of times, and while not great or too realistic, it's entertaining. I don't remember the Jennifer Garner sex scene, which is unusual, as I typically have a vivid memory of those kinds of things....I guess I need to watch it again. EDIT: I was not reading carefully. The OP said "could have been greatly enhanced by" - so there isn't one and no need to go back and watch again (at least not for that). Edited April 25 by msw2112 Quote

DanDrasticHill Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Love this movie, watching it now. Draft Day was originally planned to be set in Buffalo, but Ohio beat us out with tax incentives. Hence Cleveland. FWIW Russ Brandon impressed the film makers enough to appear in the film (he is the only real life executive to appear). Chadwick Boseman is excellent, a total scene stealer. I always thought a sequel would be great - Vontae Mack and Brian Drew locks for the HOF after winning multiple championships, Sonny rebuilding the dynasty. Sadly doesn't work without Chadwick Boseman. 1 Quote
UKBillFan Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Been looking forward to today for ages. Now struggling to stay awake. Just another seven or so hours to get through. Quote

I guess we'll have to settle for CapitalOne Venture Card commercials. At least I have one in my wallet, probably the closest I'll get to Jennifer. Edited April 25 by msw2112 1 Quote

Could be one of Costner's worst bits of acting and that's saying a lot... Was the HC Dennis Leary ? Quote
