I see they didn't post her answer. Was it:

A. I was born in a middle class family...

B. I didn't just fall out of a coconut tree...

C. We can be unburdened by what has been.

D. All of the Above

Imagine in 2024 using reliable and mainstream media in the same sentence.

How to tell everyone that you're a useful idiot and that you should be mocked and ignored.

Mainstream media is not journalism, its just a bunch of old folks influencers and paid shills doing their master's bidding. Real alternative media are not the tabloids referred to by the OP. They are indépendant platforms and much more credible as sources than are Fox or MSNBC. Mainstream media will either change or go broke.

What are those “independent platforms” that are doing actual reporting? I don’t mean insta comments on some news item. I mean actually following leads to determine what is true and what is false.

Surely Elon Musk can afford to start an alternative real newspaper with normal journalistic standards. Why doesn’t he?

You are in the 21% of Americans that still has faith in what you call “the reliable mainstream media”. Nobody can take that from you. Most wouldn’t want to take that from you.

There are many. Glenn Greenwald, Breaking Points, Secular Talk, the Intercept, Judge Napolitano etc… these may be considered left leaning or libertarian but no doubt there are plenty more on the right as well eg Matt Walsh. Now of course these are not organizations like the Times, Post or Wall Street Journal. They don’t have huge newsrooms with lots of reporters investigatory or otherwise. The good ones do have reliable sources of information and typically have informed input provided by knowledgeable commentators. Their format competes not with network news but with the panels and discussion forums hosted by the network anchors.

One problem with mainstream media is that what gets produced has ultimately pretty much to be in line with editorial or corporate policy, and it is therefore more often an effort to persuade than to inform. MSNBC shills for a Democratic administration. Fox for a Republican administration. The primary objective being to persuade often leads to a corruption of the actual factual situation, sometimes resulting in an outright misrepresentation. One of the things that alternative media does is point out the discrepancy between the official narrative and the reality when such is the case.

Greenwald, yes, although he has Hillary/Obama Derangement Syndrome now. Not sure what The Intercept is since he left. The others are commenters, not reporters.

I actually want a good, responsible, fact-checking, right-leaning news source. The WSJ is still good, but obviously that's the old right wing. Fox News/Melugin actually did a good job reporting on the border fiasco, so they have the capability but lack the desire to be a serious news organization. Most of the Twitter monkeys pasted here all the time are just right wing hot take machines.
