Or do you get someone like AD Mitchell to play the Diggs role? I like McConkey but I think we already have some McConkey's on the team and we need a Gabe or Diggs replacement Unfortunately a Gabe replacement is a bag of balls. 13 minutes ago, 947 said: I prefer to look at by which 2 WRs we'd end up with if we took McConkey or Leggette at #28. Kaenon Posted April 23 Posted April 23 I am a fan of Legette. Tbh, Ladd is the ONLY WR prospect of the top 10-12 guys I'd be disappointed in if we draft him. I just didn't see any elite traits that would propel him to be this team's #1 WR at all. 1 Quote

I rather do the same thing your proposing but take a Combo of Xaxier Leggette and Malik Washington. Much better combo in my opinion for same pks This would be equally fine with me! If that's what the team thinks. But I kind of hope they go with one of those two (McConkey or Legette) in round 1 and get the other in the combo in round 4 or even 5 (Malik Washington could last). BabyBills Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Unless we run exclusively 12-personnel, we need to prioritize a WR who can line up on the LOS and beat press coverage. Unfortunately, I don't think McConkey or Legette are it. If we want a McConkey-type (crisp route runner who can separate), I'm leaning toward Ricky Pearsall. His win-rate vs. press coverage appears to be much better than that of McConkey, though still average. That, and his presence would give us 3 WRs who could play each of the WR positions, even if none can play the X exceptionally well. Javon Baker seems to be great against press, so he too could be the X. I think he could be gone before we pick in round 2 though, and I'm not sure if he has the absolute talent to justify a round 1 selection. Quote

Chaos Posted April 23 Posted April 23 The reason to draft WRs or edge rusher early is to get players who can contribute immediately on their first contract. That is McConkey among these two. Honestly, I am hoping Jackson Powers-Johnson falls to 28 and we sure up the center position for a decade. 2 Quote
Einstein's Dog Posted April 23 Posted April 23 McConkey over Legette. Legette doesn't have it upstairs. I'm leaning Worthy over both though. Worthy has elite speed (obviously) and has played the position for years. He brings a skill set that could very well make defenses play us in a slightly different fashion that opens up the rest of the field. 1 Quote
SirAndrew Posted April 23 Posted April 23 McConkey gets a lot of love on this forum, and rightfully so, but can someone please explain how he’d fit in with Shakir and Kincaid? I ask as a legitimate question I’d be interested in hearing feedback on. I don’t understand how we’d use him without taking away from those guys. McConkey as a Buffalo Bill makes no sense to me. 1 1 Quote
Nephilim17 Posted April 23 Posted April 23 If we need a boundary receiver and McConkey, as great as he is, has short arms and doesn't have the size to play outside, what is the reason for adding yet another slot specialist to this team? We have Shakir, Kincaid and Samuels with a lot of slot experience. If McConkey can't be a viable outside guy, why even bother? Are you gonna rest Shakir to play McConkey? And if so, who is the other outside guy? I know a lot of you think he can play outside but he's small with short arms and that does not bode well. 1 Quote

You are absolutely correct with your question, sir.......for i have also questioned the love of McConkey on these boards for many months. His skillset is much like what we already have on the roster, so i couldn't possibly conceive how our FO would ever want him. #wtfconfused 3 Quote
Billl Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Legette is intriguing to me because he’s a converted QB. Those guys tend to have an innate feel for getting open because they see the field the same way the QB does. Hines Ward, Julian Edelman, and Travis Kelce were/are always open, and I think having all been QBs played a part in that ability. 2 Quote

Is it more about McConkey or Georgia's offensive system? Also, were they limiting him to some degree since he had some nagging injuries? I don't know. Agreed. I think some circumstances made it so, but I just don't think I see a first round player. At the same time, I think he is going to be very good so I am pretty conflicted honestly. Quote

I'm just basing it on the guys they've brought in over the last few years, either as signings, trades or projected early picks. There are a ton of them. I've been wrong before, but reading the tea leaves, it looks pretty clear to me that they have a preference for speed, separation and route running capability and are willing to sacrifice size. Quote

I think the vision would be for him would be to play as both the Z and the slot depending on the situation. The trickier part is that’s probably the plan for Samuel. If we plan on rotating WRs a lot they can all play but we don’t have anyone that projects as an X right now besides Shorter who I am not willing to assume will ever make an impact for us. 1 Quote

He filled in at QB for one year and was mostly just running wildcat. McConkey also played QB his senior year and threw for 20 TDs as well as 10 rushing. Luke McCaffrey and Isaiah Williams are legitimately converted QBs and Adonai Mitchell dabbled with it a little in high school as well. Edited April 23 by DCOrange 2 1 Quote

Pearsall's 3 cone and ridiculous explosion numbers make him pretty tempted. I still don't see a first-rounder in either. 2 Quote

I don't see a first rounder unless we are in top 12-15 picks - but we aren't. We are at 28. Beane goes Defense at 28 (DE or CB) and we get a WR in 3rd. Or, I see us going hard on D all draft and he adds a WR in FA after the draft. 1 Quote
