Says in the announcement that his future is still up in the air. Also says he's not "currently" with the team. Wonder if he has a handshake with Beane that is pretty much a "Hey if you're playing next year let me know and we'll get a deal".

I think IF he continues to play, he’s got a deal in place with Beane that he will be a Bill. Honestly, I hope it’s for a backup role as I worry for his health going forward. He probably shouldn’t be playing anymore. But if he wants to play backup/3S specialist, he hole helping these young kids we have at the position I wouldn’t complain. Hopefully get this guy a ring. He deserves it more than just about anyone on the team.

Kind of seems like He's going to announce he's coming back at his softball game. They do need safety help.

What gives you that impression?

My preference is for him to retire to preserve his health.

If he came back as a depth player cheap, that would be OK.

I'm not sure I'd want him back as a starter. He has lost some speed. He compensated with his football smarts, but smarts will only get you so far.

why wouldn't they have just signed him to another year instead of letting him go?

Whether he comes back or not I hope and fully expect Buffalo to come out and support. Micah’s been a great player, but also such a class act in this community.

He’s a FA so they didn’t release him. I believe he was undecided if he was going to continue playing. Hopefully if he does it’s back in Buffalo as our D could use his leadership.

I wouldnt mind him being brought on as an assistant coach, it seems he is a natural leader and would be very beneficial to relay McDermotts style of defense.

If I had to guess and this is PURE speculation...

I'm betting the Bills have 2 different standing offers to him. One is to return as a player, possibly in a diminished role with a salary that reflects that. The second would be as a member of the coaching staff as an assistant in some capacity with the DBs. McDermott has spoken on him as a potential future coach in the past but Hyde not being ready for it as he felt he could still play.

My guess is that Hyde is weighing the doctor's advice concerning his injury against his desire to be on the field. Maybe he takes an entire year off to see where his body's at but at his age he doesn't have time on his side. I feel we see him back is some capacity next season either as a role player or on the sidelines with a cap and whistle.

Did he tell the Bills he was done playing at the end of the season?  At the time, most headlines went with "Bills release Hyde..."

Make him an associate coach.

I still think he's better than both of our safeties - who both signed for backup money.

They get 10M in space come june 1st.  Post-draft i think they'll have a better idea on what they want to do with that money.  If they get 2 WRs in the draft and they're comfortable rolling with that group, maybe a free agent WR is less of a priority.  Mocks have been pointing to a safety for buffalo, but we'll know more in a week or so.

I personally don't think they're done at safety be it draft or free agency.  Obviously hyde is out there, but so are Simmons, Jackson, Diggs, Adams etc.  There's still a ton of dudes out there.
