Nothing directly Bills related today

-Other prospects have had major character issues that have really hurt them with NFL teams. Some NFL sources said their teams had dropped Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr., Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton and Texas defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat off their draft boards because of character. All three have early-round skill sets, but each could slide in the 2024 NFL Draft because of character problems.

-Every year, there are some prospects that benefit from a lot of media hype and others who don’t receive the attention they deserve.

WalterFootball.com surveyed team sources as to which players were being overrated and overhyped, as well as which players they considered underrated

Overrated

Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

Roger Rosengarten, OT, Washington

Graham Barton, OL, Duke

Underrated

Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan

Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, C, Georgia

Fanduel has BTJ draft position over 19.5 at -172. Trade with Pitt could make sense if Buffalo is interested and he is available at that spot.

Both Worthy over 31.5 and Legette over 33.5 slight favorites to go end of round 1/early round 2.

Rumor is the Steelers are trying to trade up into the early teens for an OL

A lot of great nuggets in here (for ESPN+ subscribers) including this on the Bills:

The Bills will basically scour the Earth for receiver help this draft. Word is that they love Odunze and loosely know what it would take to acquire him. Do I expect Buffalo to trade up for him? No, that's a steep climb into the top 10. But that's a window into the legwork that Buffalo is doing on the WR position.

Couple other interesting nuggets from that article:

While the Cardinals at No. 4 can effectively serve as the draft's pivot point for a trade, teams I've spoken to believe the Chargers are eager to trade back at No. 5, too. "The Chargers have made that clear -- they want to move back," an NFL executive said. "They probably want an [offensive] tackle."

I've been told the Giants and Vikings are the two teams that have been most active in discussions with the Patriots about the No. 3 pick, and that if Washington takes Daniels at No. 2, the Giants would be very interested in trading up to No. 3 for Maye. I've also been told in recent days that the Giants like Penix and might even be willing to take him as high as No. 6. There's a lot of chatter flying around, but what is clear is that the Giants have done significant work on the quarterbacks and are very open, if not desperate, to come out of Thursday night with one of them.

When I ask teams to predict which player will be the fourth receiver taken, one name that comes up fairly often is Texas' Xavier Worthy. Elite speed goes high. LSU's Brian Thomas Jr. is in that conversation, too. He's bracing to go somewhere in the teens or early-to-mid 20s. Thomas was part of the combine medical recheck due to a shoulder issue from college, but teams I've spoken to say that's not a major red flag -- just something they would have to manage in Year 1. He's extremely talented.

All this Worthy talk better be a smokescreen.  We’ve all seen our corps get bullied and locked down in the postseason.  The answer is not a 165lb stick figure.

This is about putting Act II of Allen and the Bills with a soft reset. #1 WRs are about 12% of the cap and top qbs are about 20%. That is 1/3 of your cap going to 2 players.

They can save so much in cap space for 5 years by moving up with honeslty 3 great WR prospects, you have to move for it. The cap savings pays for the extra 1st itself...

Wr risk in round 1 has largely moved away from misses at the top of the class, go get one of the top 3 and pair this guy up with allen for the prime of his career...

I'm certainly not trading back when the teams below us and at the top of rd2 who went qb in rd 1, need wrs also. I'm not sure I'm making a smaller move up for wr4 or 5 unless I have a ton of conviction on their ability and our ability to develop them.

Do I want to part with next year's 1 for a plug and play wr this year or do I want to wait for year 2 or year 3 for them to come on during Allen's prime? I'm not wasting any time or years on his career. With the cap savings we can plug another hole or 2 in UFA in the next couple offseasons to negate the list one....

Thought this was interesting:

'Over the course of the draft process, there have been more frequent reports about some teams grading out LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers higher than Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. That definitely is the case; I know sources with multiple teams that said their franchises have Nabers over Harrison.

One AFC director of player personnel told WalterFootball.com:

Nabers’ tape is more impressive than Harrison’s …. We have a blue – elite – grade on Nabers with Harrison in gold. We think Harrison could get to blue as a pro, but right now, Nabers is the only receiver we have in blue.

While Nabers has some teams rating him ahead of Harrison, one thing going for Harrison is there are teams that have some character concerns with Nabers. Harrison did not come up with character concerns. Sources from multiple teams with top-10 picks said they had character marks for Nabers. That being said, they said the character was not bad enough to cause them to pass on him based on the questions or remove him from their draft board. Thus, Nabers looks like a near lock for the top six of the 2024 NFL Draft.'

some fall in love with WRs or DE...

for me, it's all about 340+ pound DT's!

I hope Sweat does a podcast with Aaron Rodgers saying the Earth is flat or something and we get him in the 4th round

More OTs will go than WRs on Thursday. That is an absolute lock IMO.

Sportsbooks more than agree.

Over under on wrs picked is 5.5

Over under on OL is 9.5

Yea OL more generally is even more a lock. I suppose some of the guys could be classified in other spots.... but my guess is:

Alt, Fashanu, Fuaga, Latham, Mims, Guyton, Morgan all go and are called tackles. Then I think Fautanu will be called a tackle, he will definitely go. And possibly Barton who might go and might be called a tackle.

I legit have 11 OL men going in round 1 for my last one

Alt, Fashanu, Latham, Morgan, Guyton, Fuaga, Fautanu, Mims, JPJ, Barton, and Frazier.

Overkill most likely but with salaries increasing and a lack of quality OL around the league their going to come off the board like hotcakes

It also provides more incentive for the teams drafting ahead of us to draft a highly rated rookie WR themselves rather than trade down.  And,  of course,  more expensive to convince them otherwise.

probably twitter nonsense but hey if the giants want a player they can move back for that can change the landscape a lot early thursday night.
