Kirby Jackson Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Shakir is almost exactly who we expected. He’s really good with the ball in his hands. He has good hands. He’s a top 5ish slot receiver. He isn’t a guy that terrifies people. He’s a nice piece. He’s a piece not a guy. 1 1 Quote

Shakir did indeed hit 100 targets on the season yesterday. His regular season is "probably" over. If so, he fell a whopping 529 yards short of Alpha's whacky off-season math. He's been who we really should have thought he'd be. A really good slot receiver. Excellent RAC guy. Sure hands on short-to-intermediate throws. Not so good further downfield or contested. The yards per catch was going to fall, that wasn't sustainable on a larger sample size from the slot. Might have worn down a bit from regular work and all the RAC wear and tear. Hopefully a week off will re-charge him for the playoffs. LMAO This made my day! The fact I live so rent free in your head that you have to lie and make false things up to try and get over on me makes me smile. You, and anyone who reads this thread, knows 100% that was NOT a prediction, that was what his totals would have been LAST year based on his averages on 100 targets. I have written in this thread and many other threads 100 times I said he would be 900-1100 yards. What is even more hilarious, is how you private message me when you want to actually have a real conversation to desperately hide your admiration of me, where we AGAIN also very specifically discussed his projections where I said 900-1100 yards. Thanks for the chuckle and great start to my day Edited December 30, 2024 by Alphadawg7 1 1 Quote
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 My friends of other teams are saying to me; man the Bills have alot of weapons to deal with. And, that's only true if JA17 is at QB. It's a nice team group and it's plenty good enough to win the Super Bowl with. 2 Quote

Shakir loves playing here and the team, coaches, Beane, and Allen love him. I think it will be a mutually beneficial type deal because both sides want it to happen. And Buffalo has leverage too with the "everybody eats" type philosophy as well IMHO. I am expecting like $16-$17M per range Quote

They playoffs and what Shakir's agent if thinking will have a lot to do with the timing. 1 minute ago, Alphadawg7 said: Yeah I agree that Beane will likely try and do his extension this year. Beane would jump on it. They also have to know with the Bills style of play the Bills do not NEED to re-sign him. If Shakir's reps are too adamant during the spring, I expect a 2nd round WR to be taken. Quote

I still think he will be extended in the spring. Quote

Plus he seems like the team-first guy you want to openly reward in the locker room. Dawkins type mentality. Head down, plugging away, process & team. Not only do you want to reward a guy like that, but you want to see the lockeroom see the type of attitude and work that gets you extended in Buffalo. At the same time... we need to heavily invest in WR position from here out. Josh is going to raise the value of any WR on this team and there will be guys we can't or shouldn't resign, because of cap implications. I'm all for taking a WR high again this year. Then another mid to late rounds. We need to become "WR Univ" like Pittsburgh. Keep josh flooded with help. Keep that positions salaries in check, don't overpay the gabe davis of the world. Worst case you end up with excess talent in the room and you have some tasty trade bait. Keep. Going. To. The. WR. Well. Early & Often 1 1 Quote
JP51 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Not taking away... cause you were not wrong... but I am categorizing this Shakir season as a pleasant surprise.. I feel like he was going to produce well given the increased focus... and he did.... maybe even a little nicer than we expected... but no his is not the 2nd coming of Nacua either... hopefully he has some more in that ceiling... but for his 1st real year as a focal point well done 10. 1 Quote

That is not the worst case scenario. The worst case scenario is you spend a bunch of assets on a position that relies on everybody else for success. Then the units that they rely on for success are compromised because you de-prioritized them. And suddenly you are weak in the trenches and can't win because all your chits are tied up in track stars that don't get the ball because you can't protect your QB and you also can't get your defense off the field because you didn't invest enough in your DLine. Welcome to Miami.... 1 1 Quote

Nothing is etched in stone. Shakir could blow out his knee and we could get pennies on the dollar. I do think Beane is very much thinking about whether to extend him or not this spring and at what price point. That’s kind of the GM’s job to think about these things before they materialize. Which is why I think he will be extended this spring. Not really sure why you have such an issue with that take? 1 hour ago, Simon said: That is not the worst case scenario. Welcome to Miami.... Honestly the Bengals have it worse because their owner has no money, but there’s also an aspect of “knowing” you have a $35M contract pending hamstringing you from making shorter term improvements. Jamar Chase is elite and imo worth every penny. But if his extension wasn’t on the horizon, the Bengals as a roster doesn’t fall off like they did in 2024 imo Quote

WR prospects have never been more talented as they are currently, and their delta between FA dollars and rookie contract dollars is approaching 2nd in the league. I have finally formulated my take that if you have a QB making franchise QB money, you never pay a WR unless he is like a top 5 guy in his prime. It’s just bad business. Let the Tee Higgins of the world go get $30M from the Pats or the Broncos. 2 Quote

I'd generally agree but this seems to be the weakest WR class in a few years. There might not be a good match of talent/value. I might be OK with waiting a bit longer and picking up our next Shakir in a mid-round VS reaching early. I fully expect 2 of our 1st 3 picks to be DL. Quote
