Cut him a little slack. I have cut him slack. I think the potential he has is in the "plus" column for him. I think physically there is more to come and there is room for some coaching on the nuances. I recognise that in my initial evaluation summary of him above. Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 Beane was on Green Light with Chris Long again today. It's a great interview overall, and towards the end Long asked him who the most underrated player on the Bills is. Here is what Beane and Long had to say about Shakir (and Taron too). It's clear Beane sees Shakir as key piece to this offense moving forward based on the numerous times he has been mentioned by not only Beane, but Allen, the other coaches, and other players. Im really looking forward to seeing him in this offense. MOST UNDERRATED Below is the full interview too if you haven't already seen it in the other thread just about this full interview. If link above doesn't work, its at 27:06 2 1 Quote

If link above doesn't work, its at 27:06 I saw this interview in another thread, and immediately when Beane said Shakir...thought of you 👏 Beane definitely has faith not only in Shakir, but the other options he has. And maybe Joe Brady the most. I thought Brady did a great job in Carolina during 2020, and basically had squat to work with at OL and QB. His scheme seemed more like a hybrid Saints scheme (Payton), and won't be surprised to see a lot more RB screens/even more Cook or Davis receptions. Shakir definitely has a big opportunity ahead of him this year and hope he takes advantage. Look forward to seeing how Brady uses him and Samuel the most. 1 1 1 Quote

Of note: the new stadium has grass and they can't do grass in a dome. Maybe everyone knows this but I didn't. But to the booze! 1 Quote
NeverOutNick Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I agree with you all. Shakir will be our best WR this year. He’s only gotten better every year in the league and he’s a dawg. 1 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 (edited) I know there are plenty of detractors out there regarding our current group of weapons around Josh, but man, I am amped for this group and this guy Shakir is one the reasons. I really can't wait to see what him, Keon, and Kincaid look like this year. And if Claypool rises out the corpse of his career into the potential he showed his first 2 seasons, this offense will be wicked. The tweet above only has a clip from the full piece...below is the full 20 minute piece on Shakir and Moulds, its 100% worth the watch IMHO. Shakir isn't here to have a role, he is on a mission to be one of the best in the league! Whether he reaches those heights or not we will have to see, but you gotta love that he is pushing himself so hard to try and get to those top goals! Edited June 7 by Alphadawg7 1 1 Quote

In the segments where he's training with Moulds, who is the other guy training with him? edit: think this is a pic of him Edited June 7 by Beck Water Quote

Be my best guess Quote

Maybe its one of the other WR's trying to earn a spot for the Bills or our PS outside the top 6 guys (or Isabella as that ain't Isabella HA). I honestly couldn't pick those other guys out of a lineup haha. Quote

Great find Alpha, am really impressed by what I saw of Shakir’s personality (opposite of an entitled diva), drive and respect for what Moulds is doing for him. Cool side note about his time in Japan also, a well rounded man. I’m ready to hit the gym now too, let’s go!!! 😁 1 Quote

Yeah, some of this was in the embedded episode, so was great to see a bigger piece on him and Moulds. Fun seeing the few Moulds highlight clips too...what a shame he didn't have a Josh Allen or prime Jim Kelly and got stuck in QB purgatory. 1 1 Quote

Ha, I didn’t realize it wasn’t more widely known. I knew just from various press conferences or interviews like this one where it was just casually mentioned in the past. But I do also listen to like every Beane or McD interview as well as some of the players like Allen, Diggs, etc or any of the team/player pieces like embedded and the recent Shakir and Moulds piece. My wife teases me all the time about it and says “well there’s worse things you could be addicted to” hahaha 2 Quote
Nephilim17 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 The Khalil and Mounds video (about 20 minutes) is an excellent watch. Highly recommended. Gives me even more respect and hope for Shakir — fine young man and driven player and teammate. And a higher level of respect for Moulds, who got just shy of 10,000 yards in his career without a franchise QB. Glad to see him doing well and staying busy trying to help young players. Quote

Agreed and posted it already here in this thread which is what brought this thread back up as I started it beginning in April right after Diggs was traded. It’s a really good watch for sure. Imagine if Moulds had better QBs Edited June 8 by Alphadawg7 1 Quote
