I kept laying out ways for diggs to be moved and they just kept saying I didn’t know what I was talking about before blocking me. 1 Quote

It was wildly obvious one of the main goals they had this year was to get future cap space back into reasonable shape, so we didn't have to go through another year like this one where we start out so far underwater. That goal just took a huge hit. It took the opposite of a huge hit. They need to have their big money contracts in their mid 20’s. I don’t think they will trade for a WR1, but I wouldn’t be surprised. It definitely can happen. Will it? Probably depends on the draft plan. Quote

Buffalo Boy Posted April 3 Posted April 3 He was worth what he was worth and I trust that Beane turned over every rock he could during the process. Having to give up picks is what irks me but this is classic addition by subtraction, albeit one season too late. Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) Diggs is OFF THE BOOKS after this season. We pay an additional 3.2 million over his current cap hit. Makes a trade for another WR possible with future cap space of 20+ million now available Edited April 3 by Warriorspikes51 3 Quote
Draconator Posted April 3 Posted April 3 In the long run, this team will be better off for trading Diggs now. 2 Quote

GoBills! Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I don’t hate the move, he wasn’t a stand out #1 second half of the season, drops started to become more regular. Maybe Josh has too much stress from dealing with him if there is a riff. We always get hung up on the last success of guys here. We held on to Poyer and Hyde 1 year too long, it’s time to get younger draft our top WR and get reps with the young guys look at how many good WR came out in the past 1-3 years. They are on cheap contracts which is what we need as well. 1 Quote

Logic Posted April 3 Posted April 3 The move to get rid of Diggs, eliminate distractions, take our cap medicine this year, get younger and cheaper, and add a big pile of 2025 cap space? A+ The trade ITSELF? Diggs and two late picks for a 2nd? Hmmm...Probably a C . I say that because while a 2nd round pick doesn't look great on the surface, when you consider Digg's contract and age, and the fact that a guy like L'Jarius Sneed only fetched a 3rd, it's actually not a bad return. The compensation received is mitigated, however, by the enormous dead cap hit. So averaging together the move and all of its implications, the compensation received, and the dead cap hit, I can't give the whole thing better than a C grade, even though I feel like the overall impact may wind up being an A+ in the long run. 1 Quote

tomur67 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Beane would not have traded Diggs without a plan already worked out that would get the Bills a WR1, whoever that is, is the question. 2 3 1 Quote
babulator Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I saw another discussion where they said who tf cares about dead cap this year, because there's no one left to sign. Better to clear the books now and have an extra 25m next year to play with, after we draft one of the stud WR's this year. 2 Quote
zevo Posted April 3 Posted April 3 What’s going to happen when the bill select an edge at 28? 🤣 3 Quote

UKBillFan Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I don't mind Diggs going - it struck me he had rapidly become a problem in the locker room rather than someone who could be relied upon. But only a 2nd round pick in 2025 for him. A very poor return which does suggest a level of desperation. 1 Quote

This years draft just got a whole lot more interesting imho. 🤞 But many of those TDs to others were possible in part because Diggs drew the top cover guys to him. 1 Quote
