loveorhatembillsfan4life Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Should have traded him to the NFC. This team loves giving other AfC teams Super Bowls .. 1 1 Quote

The trade compensation was this year's 6th and next year's 2nd and 5th. And you're right, Samuel's role is now HUGE, but honestly, anyone expecting that to materialize in the way that we need is going to be incredibly disappointed. He ain’t gonna be any worse than diggs was the second half of last year to be fair 😂. This could be anything between ‘Texans fleeced us’ to ‘we fleeced the Texans’ depending on what diggs has left in the tank lol Edited April 3 by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote

H2o Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Personally, I don't care Diggs is gone. So be it. We got a 2025 2nd, which is more than we would get next offseason if we held onto him. We also take the cap hit this year versus next. Thanks for the play the first couple of years, but the last couple your antics have been ridiculous. A very childish mentality. you can try to say, "He just wants to win. He's a competitor." But all of them want to win and they can keep their emotions under wraps, instead of having toddler type outbursts. Then he would run to social media all the time with his dumb antics as well. I was over it. I think everyone behind the scenes was over it. I think Josh did the best he could to keep the waters calm in all of his interviews, but he was over it. Let's go hit on a couple of WR's this draft and keep it moving. This situation REALLY could end up being addition by subtraction. 3 1 2 1 Quote

Management wise, I am puzzled why we didn't do this after June 1st and lessen the cap burden given we didn't get back any draft capital in this draft. I am actually not that concerned about the offense, I think we will still be an elite offense, I mean we were last year and went 6-1 with our WR1 and WR2 producing very little in that time last year. I just don't understand the timing if we didn't get a pick in this draft. agreed. totally ridiculous to get nothing in this draft and have it cost more cap wise, thus limiting our FA acquisition ability. 4th&long Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Whatever the case is with the cap, it just shows you how bad the bills wanted him off the team. 1 Quote

Donuts and Doritos Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) There has to be a Huge back story we don't know about. The compensation seems like Beane wanted to be rid of him & his cap hit. Either Diggs really wanted out & it was worse than we know (like his production went down bc he quit) OR Beane thinks he's cooked & not worth the $. I'm sure there could be other options too. It seems like a sudden rash trade. Edited April 3 by Donuts and Doritos 1 Quote

I have been envisioning this trade since all the smoke started around the Pro Bowl and felt Beane would have to get very creative to swing this deal. It would perhaps involve Diggs not being able to report to the Texans until June and the Bills trading a future #1 pick(say 2026) as a place holder for a current Texans day 2 pick(s). Then flipping Diggs to get that future Bills pick back in June when they had the cap space to make a deal. They kinda' need that 2nd or 3rd round pick NOW to maneuver for the now multiple WR's they want/need. Edited April 3 by BADOLBILZ 1 1 Quote

Billz4ever Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Everyone saw Diggs disappear the second half of the season last year. It doesn't seem like he was an important cog in the Brady offense. So if that is true, it would actually be a bad on Beane to not try to move a guy whose basically been a giant distraction and who still has some trade value left to salvage. 1 Quote
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Just now, DrDawkinstein said: That's the "by the book" breakdown. Houston can take on any amount they want, and even trade us cash for a player. We'll have to see how this shakes out. Cash doesn't affect the cap space taken out. It would just... pay for stuff. I believe they can still spread cap hit over 2 years though. Quote
