Wild to hear Beane and Lynch hopped on a zoom call together with the league to confront officials on a unified front about the both of them being screwed in the Comp formula.

Sounds as though they're now counting in void years and funny money into the equation and not just the standard cap figure. Kind of BS that they just decided to do that on a whim retroactively instead of implementing it going forward.

Glad to hear he did everything he could to fight it, rough to hear that it didn't matter.

My random thoughts:

- Picking up Groot's option is, I think a smart move. Let's see if he can stay healthy. If he can, he can be a force.

- Says the door isn't closed on Tre or Micah. I would be ok seeing Tre come back on a low deal. But I think the door should be closed on Hyde. Most of that is for his own long term health and his ability to stay on the field for the team. If he were to officially retire...he would make a good assistant coach if he's so inclined.

- Have they always taken account of void years, or is this something new? Either way I really wish the league would be a bit more forthcoming about the secret formula of comp picks

- So, draft gurus...which WRs are the most versatile and high IQ guys? Who fits that description and who can we eliminate from the description?

-$6M-$7M in the checkbook still with another $10M after June is really a nice place to be sitting. I think we will see 2-3 more signings (small to medium) before the draft. A vet RB wouldn't shock me.

I don't see Tre as much of a possibility this year. I could be wrong as I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can release a player as a June 1st cut for 10m in savings and then get him back in the same offseason and still keep the savings for not having him on the roster and have him on the roster at the same time. And if that is the case, I don't think we're going to negate 10m in savings.

I feel as though it was more of a "possibly someday" discussion. I think we view him as a if he has no options and we can get him as a depth and reclamation project on an incentive deal, we'd revisit it. But if we had plans for him, we wouldn't have cut him and he wouldn't be taking visits elsewhere.

-Beane dug into Joe Brady's brain with regard to Curtis Samuel, so you better believe Brady's got some ideas already on how to use him.

-Thought the Tre comment was interesting. Would it even be feasible to bring him back again this offseason?

-Sure sounds like we're going with the guys we have at Safety. Almost politely dismissed the idea of Micah coming back by making it seem kinda far-fetched and emphasized DT, not Safety was priority #1 in FA.

-Sounds like the door might be open for Cook to get a 2nd contract in Buffalo based on the way Beane talked about the evolution of RBs like Saquan and CMC in offenses.

-Groot's 5th year option will be picked up if he's not extended first.

-We have $6-$7 million in available CAP space.

Sure you can. You just sign a new deal. Bills could re-sign him for something like 2/$11M with $6M guaranteed. Cap hit could be low like $3M this year. Still save $7M on the cap from the original deal.

Yes, you can release someone and get the savings if you bring them back. The dead cap also still applies. Teams do it quite frequently, actually.

Right now Tre is likely taking visits to gauge interest in his services as well as see what his value is on the open market. Maybe someone bites. If not and there's a limited market it wouldn't be surprising to see him come back on a 1 year prove it. Again, this type of transaction is fairly common if you follow other teams moves.

I don't remember seeing it happening commonly or in recent memory. But good to know.

I do think it's not something we have plans on. If it were, I feel we would have brought him back on a new contract fairly soon after cutting him.

As you said, I see it more of a situation where if he has no options and is willing to take a largely incentive deal for a non-guaranteed role - we'd revisit it. But I don't know how likely that is and would hope he has a better opportunity both financially and playing time wise, as much as I'd like him to remain a Bill.

Groot is staying, long term.

I thought Beane's response put it as a long shot for Tre and Micah..  Money issues, they would need to come back quite cheaply but both are certainly welcome.

A vet RB is the odds on favorite of what will happen, the FO is waiting for one to get kind of desperate, take a discounted rate, and great value for us.

Didn't that veteran QB we saw in first game of season due that? They needed to sign his posse and he only played for part of one game but he did it.

Usually I take Brandon at his word as that’s kinda the way hes operated so if he’s looking for receivers that can basically play multiple positions that means Legette, Mckonkey, and Mitchell are the ones he’s realistically been studying closely.

From these summaries of what Beane said, I would be surprised if we sign another safety (such as Simmons or Blackmon).

The next safety is coming in the draft.

Are WRs really versatile at 6’0” 185lbs? I absolutely love watching his highlight clips!

He plays outside and a lot project him to the slot because of his route running. That comment was very interesting and describes a guy like a McConkey or a Worthy way more than guys like Legette
