Just toured Skywalker Ranch

Recommended Posts

My buddy works there and they are moving to the Presidio soon, so this was my last chance. Got a real insiders tour and I even saw George himself. This has to be the coolest place to work. Saw tons of cool artifacts from the movies, al lthe lightsabres etc. The state of the art production facilties and the screening rooms, sound stages (the Stones made one of their albums there) etc. There is even a vineyard that Francis Coppola uses for his wines. This place was amazing. Having seen the movie again just last Thursday, it was a cool follow up.

How cool is that?

Not to steal your thunder, but I just got back from Neverland Ranch, and I have to tell you, it's even more glorious in person. I'm not sure which was cooler; all the free porn or the vodka-flavored lollipops he handed out when we got there.

You must have went in the late 60's or early 70's....otherwise I would say that you were lying! No way Jacko would invite a 43 year old...at least one without a small child

Ha! Good one. I guess that might be one of the few things I didn't see- a bar of any sort, though I would guess there is one. He has an inn there for the actors and other directors that come up to work on the movies. They need their jesus juice and this place is pretty isolated. there were places to eat all over and good grub too. Pools, gyms, hoops court.

Did you get a chance to tour his preview studio? Some friends of mine installed all the gear in there years ago. Monster movie screen, bigass light valve projector...quite the set up. But I suspect that's what one would expect.

You're right. I was hanging out with MJ back when he was black.

I did see it. The coolest screening room I've seen. Better than regular theatres. Your friends must be big time techies.

Calling my friends big time techies is like calling Paris Hilton a two-bit whore. Massive understatements in both counts:D

They are the best in the business, and were putting in HiDef and digital cinema long before most of the world knew they existed. Glad you had a chance to see it. It really is impressive stuff.

It's kinda funny. At my last job, the office manager would make a run for coffee in the afternoon, and I'd order a regular coffee with cream. She'd ask "How light do you like your coffee?" and I'd tell her "Think of Michael Jackson. 'Thriller' is too dark and 'Off the Wall' is too light.
