They were going to draft a safety either way, but a 1 year deal.seems pretty temporary- like they plan to take one who could compete to start in a year (or sooner). Not a premium position, but still a hole to fill. Edited March 20 by OldTimer1960 Quote

MasterStrategist Posted March 20 Posted March 20 This is the definition of a backup/ST player. As of now, we have 2 backups (Lewis, Edwards), a fringe starter/better used in subpackages (Rapp), and a likely to be cut player (Hamlin). I was hoping we'd sign a solid starter in FA, possible we still do, but looks like we might be spending an early pick. Quote

Appears to have played SS, General DB and FS Has a knack for taking it to the house when he gets the ball. 4 Defensive TDs in the last 4 years + Championships with TB and KC 8 ints and 5 Fumble recoveries in 28 starts is actually very impressive. Remember Poyer before coming here was considered depth n turned into an all pro. McD is a DB whisperer and he clearly has some potential to work with Edited March 20 by JerseyBills 12 2 2 2 Quote

Why does he take the ball away at such a high rate, including 3 playoff INT's on 2 SB Teams and 4 Defensive TDs 1 Quote
msw2112 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I was hoping they'd sign Blackmon. Based on what (little) I know, Blackmon is the better player. Signing Edwards does not preclude them from also signing Blackmon (or Simmons), but I assume it makes it less likely. 1 1 Quote
Charles Romes Posted March 20 Posted March 20 7 tackles and a PD in last year’s Super Bowl. Wait til he works with the DB whisperer. 4 1 1 1 1 Quote

I mean all we had was Rapp, Cam Lewis and Hamlin.....so I'd say still a decent chance we sign another 1 Quote

I get that you are all excited but McDermott gets the most out of the secondary and we need help elsewhere 1 Quote

I don't necessarily disagree - but if there is one area that this staff is great at coaching, and turning average players into starters, it's the secondary. 1 Quote
