He'd be a very good backup to DQ, considering the inconsistent garbage we saw from Settle, Ford, Phillips & Joseph.

Johnson and a rookie or 2 could be an upgrade over last season.

I never gave him a thought before they signed him. Why would I, or anyone else for that matter?

He's just a guy, a backup for DaQuan. This wasn't a major move, he's not a difference maker. Beane doesn't tell me who he's thinking of signing. Are we supposed to talk about every bottom of the roster guy in the league?

This is page 10 of a thread started on Wednesday. I didn't call you out personally. I just commented that no one appears to have remarked on it being a bad call when he was brought in. Folks offer opinions all the time. There's a lengthy thread about a WR5 special teams player who hates cats and dislikes soup.

He’s not an All Pro, but he fills a role better than anyone we had last year. And the fact there was little market for him is another reason I think it’s a sneaky good signing.

Man a shrink would have a field day with your use of exaggeration(like anyone remotely suggested All Pro was a likelihood) and the brand of dissonance that it takes to equate the lack of interest in a player making them a better target.   Well done.

AFAIK, there's zero NFL interest in signing me. I'm probably the best FA target of them all this season.

Would it be great if he got 30 sacks?   Sure.

I see you’re not acquainted with the concept of hyperbole as a literary tool to emphasize a point, which is to say he’s not as bad a player as some want to make him out to be. Especially the folks at PFF who two GMs personally told me it was all they could do to keep from laughing when a certain player and agent cited their “ratings” in negotiations. Well done, indeed.

Ha! I’m still pissed off about Ngata.

And instead of Ngata we drafted Donte Whitner.

Thanks for bringing this up, guys.

Ohhh.........so when the 2018 Bills had the lowest scoring offense the NFL had seen since the merger  thru the first half of any season and the Buffalo media asked Sean McDermott about this alarming fact, to which he responded "Would we like to score 50 points every game? Of course." that was actually a literary tool?

Not just a garden variety defense mechanism used to totally avoid actually giving a logical answer to a question by hurling some outrageous expectation that NOBODY had out there as if that was the only alternative?

Ok, thanks Shakespeare.

You didn't answer the question. PFF watched every snap of his and ranked him as one of the worst in the entire NFL. And judging by his pitiful contract, there was little market for him outside of a 1 year prove-it deal.

There is zero evidence that we upgraded depth here, as there is little evidence that he is better than who he replaced.

Curious to see his previous year rankings as the Chargers were kind of a train wreck. Loads of talent on defense and still one of the worst defense in the league

He’s been playing a totally different position than he will with Buffalo.  Previous rankings mean crap

Regardless of PFF he will be good 1 tech.   Playing him at 3-4 DE seems like square peg round hole.

Don’t you think he would be more of a 3T?

I think he's more likely to backup Jones as a 1T.

IMO we could use him as a rotational 1T or 3T.  For run defense you could have him and Daquan out there.  He’s played DE in a 3-4 too

I’m not sure Sean is open to it, but I’d like to see us more unpredictable on D

if Sweat makes it to 60, I’m not passing on him just because we signed a player to a 1 year deal.  Take him.

then you could even mix in some 3-4 looks

Milano, Bernard inside.

Dorian Williams,

Taron / Von / Rousseau outside  depending on what look you want to give

Based off Joe Marino’s breakdown, I think he plays majority of the time at 1 tech.  He has the flexibility to play 3 tech but his play style lends well to 1 tech.
