Do you really think corporations will invest heavily in US manufacturing based on Trump's tariffs? If you were the CEO of a major manufacturer would you trust that those tariffs will remain in place for the foreseeable future? It would be a gamble that Trumpism is the new Forever Politics of the United States. There is no reason to expect that. The next President - even a JD Vance - may very well revert to traditional Republicanism, or maybe a Democrat will win. So at best there is little assurance that today's policy will be next year's policy. Not the kind of assurance I'd want to invest billions in US manufacturing. How is the comment “interesting thoughts” considered to be a parroting of talking points? 1

That would be great if we can extend this to the fall. Less drunk buttholes at the Bills games, less fights, etc. Trona fans come down here and collectively treat us like crap. 1

Joe Ferguson forever Posted Tuesday at 09:59 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:59 PM It seems it soon won't be a good time to buy a car, service a car or insure a car. Selling will be ok as long as you don't need to replace the one you sell. Thanks trump... https://www.kbb.com/car-news/trump-confirms-tariffs-what-car-shoppers-should-expect/

No doubt your repairs increased as well but get ready for a more robust jump in both. this is not going to be good for car companies and the huge number of related industries. Ya, car parts imported over the border, insurance companies have to pay for that and the bill gets passed onto you, thanks Trump! You think the Biden inflation was bad, this Trump inflation is way worse, preventable and totally unneccasary But he does racist stuff so the MAGA crowd don't care 1 1

Trump_is_Mentally_fit Posted Wednesday at 11:03 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:03 AM Think tax man Trump is finished raining the amount you will pay the govermnent? Wrong, he has way more taxes planned for you and me https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/03/19/trump-tariffs-imports-liberation-day/ White House aides are preparing to impose new tariffs on most imports on April 2, laying the groundwork for an escalation in global economic hostilities that President Donald Trump has called “Liberation Day.” Through his first two months in office, the president has raised tariffs on roughly $800 billion in imports from China, Mexico and Canada, although estimates vary widely. These tariffs have sent the stock market careening and raised the risks of a U.S. recession, while inviting retaliation against domestic industries by trade partners. Despite the blowback, senior Trump advisers are now publicly pledging to create a new tariff regime that would impose new duties on trade with most countries that trade with the United States. A person familiar with internal planning, speaking on the condition of anonymity to reflect private deliberations, confirmed administration officials are preparing tariffs on “trillions” of dollars in imports. The potential to more than double the scope of Trump’s tariffs has alarmed economists and some congressional Republicans, while other White House allies are concerned about the logistical challenges of a complicated new import tax regime. The precise nature of these new duties has spurred extensive discussions at the highest levels of the administration, with Vice President JD Vance, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, White House aide Peter Navarro and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent all playing a role in the talks, the person familiar with the plans said. “The last two months have already hurt American businesses and consumers, but the April 2 deadline seriously could make all of that look like a tempest in a teapot,” said Joseph Politano, an economic policy analyst at Apricitas Economics. “We don’t know exactly what they’re going to do, but from what they’re saying, it sounds functionally like new tariffs on all U.S. imports.”

A horse might be fun. We like to buy our cars used and make them last forever. It's a habit that allows us to invest in other things with long term gains, like real estate. We finally got rid of our 2004 Optima this year, so our oldest vehicle now is a 2009 which still runs great. I suppose if I were in the market for a new car it would be a problem. But you should only buy a new car if you can afford it, and think that it would really add some extra value to your life. Some people are 'car people' and really enjoy their new cars. There's nothing wrong with that if it fits your budget!
