Trump_is_Mentally_fit Posted Saturday at 08:45 PM Posted Saturday at 08:45 PM Yup, this is how you switch the tax base away from Trump's buddies and onto the backs of the American people While the market’s largest companies can afford to bring products in early, a strategy called frontloading, not all companies can afford to do take this approach. “I don’t know what’ll happen,” said Rick Muskat, president of the family-owned shoe retailer Deer Stags, which imports around two million shoes a year, with about 98% of their men’s and boy’s shoes made in China and sold in Macy’s, Kohl’s, JCPenney, and on Amazon. Trump has threatened to ultimately impose tariffs of up to 60% on products from China. Muskat says the company’s “razor-thin margins” prohibit it from frontloading products, and consumers may ultimately have to pay. “We’ll increase our price,” Muskat said. “The retailer will either accept it or won’t accept it. If they accept it, they’ll increase their price. Then the consumer will be left with no other choice. There will be sticker shock.”

Roundybout Posted Saturday at 10:54 PM Posted Saturday at 10:54 PM It is done! Tariffs are in. Ball is in your court, Trudeau. Mess us up. Give it right back. Make the MAGAs suffer at the checkout line. 1

B-Man Posted Saturday at 11:14 PM Posted Saturday at 11:14 PM Apparently some posters* here can't read, or comprehend. The US is 4% of the world population but roughly 30% of global consumption. Tariffs work for us precisely because we have the most desirable consumer market on earth and can force concessions in a way no other country can *(But here's hoping that Americans suffer)

I think a lot of his base are waiting for the logic to be hand fed to them by Fox or Twitter. If/when it becomes clear that Trump is trying to use economic force to annex an ally, like a ***** dictator, I’ll be curious to see the mental gymnastics his base performs to justify it. 1 1 1

We’re going to make all our cars, furniture, tools, clothes etc. here so we don’t need trade or relationships with other nations. So who is going to work in all these factories? Every factory I know of has a difficult time finding and keeping workers. Most factories I know of rely on lots of immigrant labor. Most American kids don’t want factory jobs doing repetitive labor for 8 hours a day. Americans have voted with their pocket books. They want imported consumer goods because they are cheaper and sometimes higher quality than American made products. No amount of MAGA tariff propaganda will change that. The exception I would say is critical medical, food and national defense related products should be produced here. This. Ideally developing nations would manufacture our disposable crap at extremely low prices, and our workers would do higher end jobs (engineering, coding, etc.) that require greater intelligence and greater education, and that pay better wages. But hey, let's make ball point pens and disposable razors here, tax the stuff we have to import to make it more expensive for consumers, and see what happens. 1 1

I’ve used dumbass, dipsh*t, and assh*le rather liberally. Generally in response to one of your deep thoughts. Libtard? No. You let your emotions impact your reading. The part that won’t happen is the annexation of an ally that some fear. They don’t actually fear it but being dramatic is part and parcel for “progressives”. 1
