The Frankish Reich Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 The latest in Tariff Wars: Mexican tomatoes will get a tariff. Which makes sense, because why have Mexicans in Mexico grow tomatoes when we can import Mexicans to grow them in the good old USA? That way we can also pay to educate their children, etc, etc. Winning! 1
4th&long Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I'm still waiting to see if any country cut a deal with Trump yet since they were all so eager? Anyone? The art of the deal my ass! Turns out Maga is the suckers and losers.

Homelander Posted April 15 Posted April 15 All these countries supposedly lining up to strike deals with the ‘genius author’ of The Art of the Deal and here he is, begging China to make him an offer. You can’t make this kind of irony up. 1 1

You can’t make this kind of irony up. Trump can’t out-tough China. China and Russia are used to collective suffering for national pride in a way Americans can’t do. In the end, whenever that is, I don’t expect any meaningful advantageous new trade deal with China. China knows the cards they hold. They can create a lot of economic pain if they want to. He will create some other crisis to divert attention while the tariffs whimper away and he declares fake victory. The media will spend one day talking about tariffs being over, then focus on new crisis. Now, where are all the amazing deals with all the other little s-hole countries? 2

Are those of you in WNY going to build greenhouses and install grow lights so you can have local hothouse heirloom tomatoes at $5 each? I've seen those in Whole Foods in the winter. By the way, we should legalize weed at the federal level and import it from a lower-cost producer. Maybe El Salvador. 1

They saw that inflation went up significantly under Biden and voted accordingly. If the tariffs do cause economic pain on people than they'll vote accordingly in 2026 and 2028. My fear is Bernie Sanders and his ilk gaining momentum going into 2028. 1

Every President since Reagan has believed in some flavor of trickle down economics. Every President since Reagan, with the possible exception of Sleepy Joe, has believed in Union busting. Every decade since the 80s, real wages for workers have stagnated or barely increased. Why's Bernie a bad idea? He's got an economic vision for the common man that isn't "Tell those poors to work three jobs so they can buy more equities so Green Line Goes Up".

If only someone said something.

If/when a true liberal president gets elected, they will have the authority to use all the levers of power Trump is now claiming. Ignore court rulings Fire government workers deemed disloyal Target private citizens and business with legal action Force conservative universities and organizations to do what he wants Target protesters Remove rights, etc… Everything goes around in a cycle. 1

If Trump can show progress on the economy and continue to deal with waste/fraud/abuse in govt, move forward on the illegal immigration issue, we probably push on. Still, the race changes when someone becomes the front runner, and Sanders background offers plenty to talk about.

Bernie was at Coachella preaching to the crowd about the hardships that people like them are having to endure. People oppressed by the policies of the current administration, that can spend $700+ on show tickets and thousands more to enjoy a few days of entertainment. Hardships? That's comical. But that's how coastal liberal elites view themselves and the world. Higher prices on essentials like Guacamole sets them off into a panic. Edited April 16 by All_Pro_Bills 1
